newbie here getting a green anaconda

Would you really Nanci? That word just doesn’t seem appropriate for a truck.
 
Okay, this is definitely a joke, right? I've only read a few pages, and I see that this person already has a red name (banned), but I sincerely hope that this person wasn't foolish enough to actually get an Anaconda. Likewise, I think anyone who would sell this person an Anaconda would have to be a fool.

Why is it that people always have the "I know a breeder with 500yrs experience" card, yet they come to a Corn Snake forum for advice?

I say get the Anaconda... a nice BIG, wild caught, and very hungry one... please!

Yea...it *might* be worth listening to him. But like any other sane adult living in the real world, I refuse to be "educated" by a know-nothing.

Saying that a male green anaconda does not get over 10 feet is false. I'm sorry, but that is just bad information. It's like saying a male BCI won't get over 6'. Occasionally that is the case, and from certain localities that is the norm. But it isn't a blanket fact about the species, period.

Saying that a green anaconda doesn't need humidty in the 80% range is wrong. They simply do not tolerate dry climates. That's why they originate from the Amazon Basin...it's warm and humid...which is what they require. 85-90*F and a relative humidity of about 80%. And it is recommended to give them a water "dish" that they can soak in...considering they are semi-aquatic...:rolleyes:

And claiming that they need anything less than a medium sized closet as an enclosure is just bad information. Yea, they grow slow...compared to a retic. But it still only takes 4 years or so for a male to reach 9-10' and around 185lbs. I don't know the guy well enough to know if he is prepared for that. But I know that his information is just far enough off to make me wonder. Is it so far off that he couldn't have done research? No. But it isn't accurate, either. It's a "close but no cigar" scenario, and with a snake that has the potential for 12-15' and well over 200lbs...close isn't good enough.

And to be so adamant and demanding about your information, when it is marginal at best, just reeks of arrogance and "troll-ism".

Any person that comes to this forum and starts calling people idiots, morons, and saying "none of you know anything" is a trol. Whether they intended to be or not, it's what they are. Fortunately, there are plenty of members here that aren't afraid to call a spade a spade...

Like our trolls of the past(David, George, and others) I am certainly willing to give him a chance to come back and change his attitude. But a troll is as a troll does, Mike. Even Forrest Gump knows that...

Didn't any of you see the movies Anaconda 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 or 13? These creatures are nothing a normal human should be messing with! 50 feet long, 12 inch teeth, huge sword tail, etc. Unless you are an attractive, scantily-clad blonde or the Hoff, I would not recommend them for a beginner...

Oh...I'm in the middle of 3 right now. Guess only the nekkid girls can have them.

EDIT: It wasn't even snakes that killed the Hoff. So, I think my recommendation is still valid...
 
Man even if he comes back in 3 days..I am not wasting my time with him..lol..sorry but this guy is just plain arrogant and rude..and there are way to many nice people out there who could still use the help this site offers :)
 
Someone busted out the c word? Sounds like hunt,but not? Thats the only word that can take me there in a second flat. Would and have never used it and dejeweled men that have uttered it. I have the mouth of a sailor and still could neevr say that word- its truely filthy.

After the snake chases the naked girls around for a while and they bounce this way and that the snake ends up eating them anyway. No one is safe from a 50 foot snake.

I bet my mouth is worse...and I don't dare use it. Not only is it a horrible word to say(it just feels insulting)...I enjoy my testicles where they are, thanks...;)

Someone sure did....I was called that word on FB not too long ago by the friend of someone I used to like (as a person). A member here in fact.....

Not only did he say nothing to his friend, or apoligize to me for how his friend made me feel, but he defriended me.....because I didn't get their humor.
Something I won't ever forget, lemme tell you.
And this old lady can hold a grudge for decades.......
 
huh. i never would have guessed the thread would go like this when i responded thismorning. i thought it would just kind of fade without many responses, it being a question about a snake that is so vastly different from a cornsnake (not saying that you guys dont know your stuff, it just seemed misplaced, thats why i posted the link)
...i thought this guy sounded misinformed and ignorant about anacondas at the beginning (just thinking that cornsnakes were enough experiance for a big snake) but...I dont know anything about 'condas. It didnt make sense why he would come to a cornsnake site for anaconda advice.
I hate it when people ask questions and have no interest in listening to the responses. This guy was down right offensive to pretty much everyone who spoke to him right off the bat. I need better Troll-dar.

Well, I agree whole heartedly that he was close, and that he evidently did at least some research. And I admit that my knowledge of the species is second-hand, at best...which is why I didn't bother getting involved with the information aspect of this topic.

What bothered me about this kid wasn't that he wanted a 'conda, wasn't his experience, and wasn't his "my best buddy has been breeding them for 30years"...it was his bad attitude. The same bad attitude that caused me to want to strangle George way back when, and than later David. I mean...I'ma an arrogant SOB, and I know it. But even I don't step that heavily on the toes of the members here. Not even on my worst days...
