Hot chick nice conda too!!! Chris your testicles are safe I promise, lol Beth I would defriend someone who called me that no love lost there. You can call me a biotch, whore, slut, MF, or really anything but the c word I'm thick skinned, but something about that word is just really foul to me and I love my potty mouth:)

Well, I agree whole heartedly that he was close, and that he evidently did at least some research. And I admit that my knowledge of the species is second-hand, at best...which is why I didn't bother getting involved with the information aspect of this topic.

What bothered me about this kid wasn't that he wanted a 'conda, wasn't his experience, and wasn't his "my best buddy has been breeding them for 30years"...it was his bad attitude. The same bad attitude that caused me to want to strangle George way back when, and than later David. I mean...I'ma an arrogant SOB, and I know it. But even I don't step that heavily on the toes of the members here. Not even on my worst days...

Yea...it *might* be worth listening to him. But like any other sane adult living in the real world, I refuse to be "educated" by a know-nothing.

Saying that a male green anaconda does not get over 10 feet is false. I'm sorry, but that is just bad information. It's like saying a male BCI won't get over 6'. Occasionally that is the case, and from certain localities that is the norm. But it isn't a blanket fact about the species, period.

Saying that a green anaconda doesn't need humidty in the 80% range is wrong. They simply do not tolerate dry climates. That's why they originate from the Amazon Basin...it's warm and humid...which is what they require. 85-90*F and a relative humidity of about 80%. And it is recommended to give them a water "dish" that they can soak in...considering they are semi-aquatic...

And claiming that they need anything less than a medium sized closet as an enclosure is just bad information. Yea, they grow slow...compared to a retic. But it still only takes 4 years or so for a male to reach 9-10' and around 185lbs. I don't know the guy well enough to know if he is prepared for that. But I know that his information is just far enough off to make me wonder. Is it so far off that he couldn't have done research? No. But it isn't accurate, either. It's a "close but no cigar" scenario, and with a snake that has the potential for 12-15' and well over 200lbs...close isn't good enough.

And to be so adamant and demanding about your information, when it is marginal at best, just reeks of arrogance and "troll-ism".

Any person that comes to this forum and starts calling people idiots, morons, and saying "none of you know anything" is a trol. Whether they intended to be or not, it's what they are. Fortunately, there are plenty of members here that aren't afraid to call a spade a spade...

Like our trolls of the past(David, George, and others) I am certainly willing to give him a chance to come back and change his attitude. But a troll is as a troll does, Mike. Even Forrest Gump knows that...
But you did offer information Chris, and it was wrong...... He was right about those things, and now you tell us that you know only second hand information.........

Okay, this is definitely a joke, right? I've only read a few pages, and I see that this person already has a red name (banned), but I sincerely hope that this person wasn't foolish enough to actually get an Anaconda. Likewise, I think anyone who would sell this person an Anaconda would have to be a fool.

Why is it that people always have the "I know a breeder with 500yrs experience" card, yet they come to a Corn Snake forum for advice?

I say get the Anaconda... a nice BIG, wild caught, and very hungry one... please!
Where did he ask for advice off any of you?

huh. i never would have guessed the thread would go like this when i responded thismorning. i thought it would just kind of fade without many responses, it being a question about a snake that is so vastly different from a cornsnake (not saying that you guys dont know your stuff, it just seemed misplaced, thats why i posted the link)
...i thought this guy sounded misinformed and ignorant about anacondas at the beginning (just thinking that cornsnakes were enough experiance for a big snake) but...I dont know anything about 'condas. It didnt make sense why he would come to a cornsnake site for anaconda advice.
I hate it when people ask questions and have no interest in listening to the responses. This guy was down right offensive to pretty much everyone who spoke to him right off the bat. I need better Troll-dar.
I wouldn't have even known about this whole thread after my first post, but I read it on Lori's facebook status!
lol...I hope he doesn't bother to come back. good riddance to bad rubbish.
You'll have to link me to where he was asking for advice........

So Seaworld, the Philidelphia zoo, and the National Geographic are wrong, but your friend, who no one has ever heard of, is right?

 And I'm naive?

Wayne
Great links Wayne, but he said he was getting a Male and I can't see male in any of the links......
As you can all probably tell, I'm quite upset by the 'pack' attitude that surrounded this thread..... To all gang up with no knowledge of a species and call him a troll was wrong IMO and by doing that tipped the guy over the edge.... (though swearing was wrong, IMO if you called him a troll he was well within his rights to call you idiots)
I hope the guy comes back and puts up a progression thread so we can all be educated to a misunderstood and enigmatic species of snake.....
And to those that think unless you keep cornsnakes you shouldn't come here...... There's a few members here that have no or very few corns, yet contribute to the information put up here....... Should they all stop posting as well?

Took these pics of my girlfriend and my female anaconda(when she was still light enough to handle) about 3 years ago-thought some of you might like them

Mike, does your wife know about your girlfriend?:sidestep:

Three years ago? Do you still have this snake, Mike? What a beast of an animal! Do you have photos of her enclosure?

NO:roflmao:
I copied and pasted the link form Dan.... To go with the other links I put up....
I couldn't put the complete link up, like the others were,
as this is a family site ;)
I did have a nice Annie in the 70's but no where near as big as that female (snake)
I put up the pics to show how these snakes are killers and aggressive......

Ohhh, gotcha. Well, she doesn't look mean in those photos, but I wouldn't want to tangle with the likes of her....or her little snake, either!!

I'm with you there... ;)
I did make a bad post showing those pics as I didn't notice the writing above the pics......
Then J9 mentioned 'my girlfriend'... LOL
I felt the urge to point out it wasn't....:grin01:

I didn't think you'd be still able to walk if that was your girlfriend and your wife found out! (I dare you to show her that post!)

She knows I wouldn't cheat.... I've been married for 21yrs and never had an affair, kissed another woman or even flirted with any....
I'm a believer in the old Welsh saying...
Bigamy is one wife too many
Monogamy is the same thing.... LOL
Honestly, I cannot understand guys that want more than one load of hassle in their lives.....

But you did offer information Chris, and it was wrong...... He was right about those things, and now you tell us that you know only second hand information.........
Mike that information was offered to YOU, not him. I did not say a thing about anaconda care requirements until after he was already banned. As for what I wrote, the average size of a male green is 10'. Dowes that mean they can't possibly get bigger? I doubt it. And with a relative humidity recommended by NERD of 60%, I don't think my 80% was far off. Where I live, keeping it at 80% is what was recommended by theonly person I know in the area to keep one. So go figure.

I don't really care about the rest of it.

The ultimate bottom line is that he was rude and condescending. I don't care if he knows how to use google, he is still required to follow the rules of the site. And he didn't. From square one, he started off with insults. So peolpe jumped on him. Too bad for the poor little kid with the horrible manners and even worse attitude. I say good riddancwe to bad rubbish. Whether he was marginally right in his info or not doesn't mean a darn thing. What matters is his comlpete lack of respect and regard for the rules, the forum, and the members of the community. He can go pound sand for all I care...

Whether he was banned or not Chris, you offered information to show how he was wrong....
I don't know if he's a troll who was trying to get a rise or if he was a genuine poster, and neither did any of you.... His facts were a lot closer to the truth than yours were and yet you can claim him to be too far out and you nearly right... How the hell does this work....
And wasn't this forum downright rude and condisending to him first well before he retaliated.....
Go back to the beginning of this thread and read it again... He said I have a GA and the forum rounded on him... I would of reacted exactly the same way as the OP.... He doesn't know any of you and now he thinks we have a site of opinionated google warriors that keep corns.....
I know people that keep Condas... His bacteria claim is right.... Humidity... right... aggression ... righ.... size .... right.... And yet he was branded a troll....
Ryan posts his conda and everyone says .... Oooo great ryan, nice pick up....... Consistant on here ain't we.....

Mike, I have a mixed feeling about your posts.
On the one hand I agree, I do see a pattern here when it comes to labeling new users as trolls if they say something controversial...
It is understandable and inevitable however, especially in long standing communities such as this who had it's share of trolls.

On the other hand, really, when a person tries to get into a new community, there's a certain conduct that is expected. Being condescending is not something which is tolerated in most communities that I know of- online or otherwise.

Some of the info he gave was true, and some of it was not(such as stating that an Anaconda should not have a water dish she can soak in).

His proffessionalism aside though, even if he was a renowned keeper- first be polite, civil and a good person. Knowledge is something which can continuously change... the character is less prone to changes.

He lost me when he used "that word".....
I have no use for anyone who uses that word, or condones its use......
