Not a snake, but...

As far as red knees being irritable--the one I spoke about in my last post was one. (Brachypelma smithi = Mexican Red knee) He was definitely a more nervous spider, but I don't know whether that's standard for B. smithi or not.
Here's a pic of the B. Smithi I had to give away... She was big and gorgeous... and I miss her. She wasn't irritable at all... :(

Oh, Fred, that smithi is gorgeous! I'm so sorry you had to give her up. They're awesome spiders, actually one of those I would just love to work with someday. It's good to know they're not all like the nervous male we had at the store, too.

Yeah... I showed her pic to my wife... and then said how much I missed her. She's "thinking about it". There's a place here that sells slings... so I told her that I'd have to by at least 3 slings to make sure I "beat the odds" of getting another female. LOL.

I've wanted a tarantula for a long time, but the gf is scared of spiders. She said I can only have one if it's encased in lucite. *sigh* I think if I really pushed it, she'd let me, but having one isn't worth freaking her out.
