I've borrowed this from v_various

1.0 classic - "FinFang"
1.0 amel - "Amel Boy"
1.0 spotted python, "Thanagar"

What on earth do those numbers represent? I've been searching to find out what they mean, but no luck. Any help?

Thanks!

It is the sex of the snake. Male.Female.Unsexed

In other words, 1.2.3 would mean you have one male, 2 females, and 3 that are unsexed.

From what I have understood it shows whether they are male or female and how many you have. For example:

1.0 means you have one male snake
1.1 means you have a male and a female
2.15 means you have two males and fifteen females
1.2.13 means you have one male, two females, and fifteen babies.

Then you give their types and names. For example:

1.2 Normal Cornsnakes, "Pretty Boy", "Gretta", and "Tracey".

This means you have three cornsnakes. All of them are normals, one is a boy named "Pretty Boy", another is a girl named "Gretta", and yet another girl is named "Tracey". People generally seperate them by there types like my signature below..

I hope I am correct. I had the same question about a week ago and I just payed close attention and I think I figured it out correctly. Then I changed my signature to reflect that. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong!! :)

Oooh, thank you Wade. The third number means unsexed, not that they are babies. Thanks for clearing that up!! I will have to change my signature now. My normal is unsexed. I THINK she's a female, but I am not sure...

Thanks for all of your help guys! Im a new owner of two young corn snakes.

One is Inigo, and the other of Ofelia. At first I had them in the same cage, under the guidance of a breeder from the a reptile show - but now, they are in separate cages side-by-side, due to your advise here. :D

According to the cages when I got them (a week ago), Inigo is a male, and Ofelia is a female.

I've seen Love's video on 'popping', (I also purchased her book, which has been a great help so far), but I am much to nervous to do that to mine just yet. But I do think it would be fun if, down the line, they did mate.

I keep trying to take pictures, but my camera gets blurry every time I try to focus on them. Any hints?

Thanks again for your help guys, and if you have any more good tips/ideas in general, let me know! :D

hmm... can you tell me what type of snakes i have? I don't know if i should start a new thread but it seems pretty relevent to this topic. I'll try and put some photoes on but if i can't i'll just describe them.

OK scrap that i'm just going to put in photoes off the internet that look exactly the same as them (they're much better quality)

So Lenny looks like this:

And Carl looks like this:

Carl is whats called a Normal.this morph is the most common for corn snakes that are wild. my little guys a normal. as for lenny, i'm not too sure. i'm new to corn snakes as well and have only had mine for about two weeks.

Extremely rarely (thankfully) you'll see a fourth designation for eggs. Right now I have 1.1.0.13 blizzards.

As opposed to a pedantic jerk, I would like to be a puerile one, So as a child I remember something along the line of " Don't count your chickens before they hatch" I think Murphy's ( Rich's)law applies as well???:laugh01:
