Thanks very much for the compliments:) Actually Karen, the canvas was white, but I painted the background a deep black, specifically Burnt Umber pigments with an Ultramarine Blue glaze over it. You can't get darker than that.

BTW, I want to emphasize that EVERYONE can paint, its just a matter of laying down those first brush strokes and I guarantee you'll surprise yourself!

You are kind, but I have tried and it isn't pretty. Hey, wait, maybe that just means I should paint abstracts. :D
