Peach Fuzzies vs. Fuzzies

I have been buying my pinkies at the local petshop, and now that my snake is ready to move up in size, I am going to be ordering in bulk from rodentpro to save some money.

Anyway, the last 5 or 6 feedings, I have been getting rid of my pinkies by feeding them to my snake 2 at a time, every 6 days, no regurgs, no problems, so I figure it is time to move up in size, because 2 fuzzies everytime gets expensive.

So on rodentpro, they have peach fuzzies and fuzzies, and I was wondering what the ideal size to move up to was. Also, I am buying just one bag, and I will do the two at a time feeding when it is time for that, so I am not worried about buying too small.

I'd go with fuzzies, not peach fuzzies. Peach fuzzies usually are fed to a snake that's in between pinks and fuzzies, and a snake won't be on them too long. You'd end up with a bag of mice that are too small after a couple feedings.

Thanks, thats pretty much what I figured, and even if the fuzzies are too big, I will just pick up some smaller ones at the store until the fuzzies are right.

In the bags of Fuzzies from Rodent Pro there is always a mixture of sizes so you should be able to pick out some smaller ones to get you through the transfer stage.

Rodent Pro has very very inconsistent sizes in their bag. This might be good because if you accidently order a size too big or something, there are bound to be some in the bag that are suitable. However, it's very frusturating when you want/need a specific size and want them all to be that size.

I ordered some fuzzies from Rodent Pro and they ranged in size from pinkies up to large hopper size; I was extremely disappointed and no longer will buy from them.

I have been happy with Rodent Pro , but you are right about the inconsistent sizing being an issue at times. I always have everything from hatchlings to large adults to feed so it doesn't bother me too much to have some odd sizing of food to deal with but I can see how it would some people. And as you say, it is sometimes a blessing such as this case :)

I agree with the advice given. If your snake is handling two pinkies at once, it can go straight to fuzzies. I've never bought peach fuzzies.

I won't order from Rodent Pro again either, but that's a subject for another thread.

Measure your snake and go by that. Compare the size of your snake to the food item in question. There should be information on companies websites about this. One thing to think about is how much your snake will grow as you're going through the package. It sucks to have a snake that's a bit too big for the food you have when you're only about half way through.
Ordering online is very convenient, but if you have only one snake order food sizes in small amounts.
Or you just may find yourself needing more snake to finish up the mice you have left over... ;)

What stage does the snake move up to after it can handle two medium fuzzies per meal for a consistent time?

And that was over a year ago. That was the one and only time I ordered from them. Their product, compared to The Mouse Factory, well, there's just not even a comparison. Unfortunately, at the time, I had never ordered frozen feeders and had nothing to compare it to. Now I do---and I'll never stray from TMF.

Spend the extra cash and order from The Mouse Factory.

I buy from RodentPro because they do a local monthly show where I can see and personally pick what I'm getting plus theirs no shipping charges.

Yeah, there can be a wide range of size per bag, but in person you can say this XL mouse bag has a few the same size as the Large mouse bag and get it for the lesser price.

The pinkys and fuzzies do have numerous broken limbs. Kinda reminds me of the Knight in Monty Python; "It's only a flesh wound.":grin01:

Ditto on what you said Dwyn, I think one of the big reasons I stick with them is because I can pick up locally at a show and pay no shipping. After hearing such strong reccomendations I do think I will try an order through the Mouse Factory and do a comparison though to see if the difference is worth the cost of paying a bit extra.

I used Rodent Pro twice. I thought the first time might have been a fluke and gave them a 2nd, nope, just as bad. I use Big Cheese Rodents and have been 100% satisfied; they're my recommendation.

Were the only problems broken limbs/tails?? Were the mice still edible, or am I basically flipping a coin as to whether or not I am throwing away $50?

As I said above, I use RodentPro and yes, broken limbs/tails are the only problem and, for me, it's only on pinkys and fuzzies. Personally I don't care about broken limbs; I always break the limbs off the cow before I eat my steak anyway.

I only started ordering frozen last month, and I got quotes from half a dozen suppliers. When shipping was included, The Mouse Factory came in the least expensive for what I needed (small pinks, pinks and fuzzies), and the quality was terrific. I just sent this months order in a few hours ago.

Don't forget the added bonus: playing with dry ice in the kitchen sink after you unpack your order! :sidestep:

I put it in a coffee mug once and offered it to my kids when the got home from school. That was good for a laugh. It's great being, or rather acting like a kid.:grin01:
