PEGGY (R.I.P.) EGG STATUS 0 HELP!

OK, guys!

I am sooo excited I can't contain myself. Remember Peggy? eggbounded and had to put her to sleep? and the only egg she laid I kept it at 80 degrees and enough humidity.

Well, guess what? the egg started shrinking since Tuesday , it has couple of dents, it feels softer, I can see more condensation inside the bowl....it's Peggy's re-birth!!!

Can somebody tell me how many days to go until it hatches? I want to see the whole thing with my own eyes and hopefully will happen this weekend? When are we going to see that little headed guys? I can't wait!

PLease give me some tips you experts out there. This egg is so important to me and my son, since it means Peggy gave her life for that single egg..

She laid it about April 12, so, the time is coming. The vet said it would take 54 days but how may days after it starts shevering or wrinkling?

It seems to vary for everyone based on what I've read. But at day 54 and 80 degrees I would guess another 7-14 days. I just had a clutch hatch at day 59 incubated at 79-85 degrees and never dimpled.

Hang in there. Looking forward to seeing Peggy's baby!

Oh no, dont tell me I have to wait one to two weeks. With dimpled you mean some marks on the shell? I know it does not feel thick and hard anymore. the shell feels smoother and thinner, like bubbly.

Unfortunately, there is not a definite answer. When they get soft and dimple it could be anywhere from 1 to 14 days still. But some have noticed that 48 hours before pipping they will smell like fresh cut green peppers. So when you check your egg take a big sniff.

Mine eggs are about 40 days and they have gotten really thin, soft and dimpling. So much so that I am hoping that they don't fall out but I am pretty sure that I have at least 15 more days.

I can't wait to see that baby.

I mean caved in by dimpled. I noticed that the eggs get tiny longitudinal stretch marks before hatching. Different than dimpling. And, like mentioned above, I noticed the green pepper smell! It is very distinct. I've now got two clutches pipping within 3 days of noticing that smell.

Ok, Guys:
Tan Tan Tannnn! Baby is coming!!!....his nose is out of the egg....Sor far he/she looks just like his mother, Peggy (RIP).
But I need from all of you, experts, what temperature should we keep the baby? is 80 degrees fine? and if the humidity should be high?
I am planning to take all the vermiculite off and cover the bottom with news paper and Spagnum Moss (wet?), is it okay and not too rough on his/her skin?
And I cannot feed him until he sheds her skin, correct?
Please Help a.s.a.p.

After the baby hatches, you can put it in a shoebox-sized Sterilite tub, if that's what you want to use. Otherwise, you can put it in a 10 gallon aquarium with lots of hides. (Make sure it is secure, though!) Wait for it to have it's first shed, and after that, you can attempt feeding. Make sure the snake has access to fresh water in the new tub, as well. You can keep it at 80-85 on the hot side like you would any other Corn.

Now, where are the pictures? ;)

Suzi:
Thank you. My son took a picture but it is not clear. She/He is in a plastic box inside a 10 gallon tank and I am afraid that if I open it she will go back in the shell...what do you think?
And should I open the plastic container or not?
I will post pictures I promiss.

Peggy (RIP), Proud Daddy, Baby Peggy!

Here is Peggy, RIP, proud daddy, Iron Man, and baby peggy or baby Iron sniffing outside the egg.

This is a mirable, to know that Peggy laid this one egg before we had to put her to sleep because she was terribly eggbounded. For us to see this baby born it's a mirable to us...she/he will be so loved.

Ok, guys:

Here is baby Peggy or Iron Man Jr....she/he is not more than 5 inches long. Does she looks healthy enough for you experts?

I need more tips on how to handle. So far, I have keep it at 80 to 85 degrees hot spot and a cold spot with water. I have put towel paper at the bottom of the cage not completely closed.

One question, does she need any humidity or is it enough with the water bowl in it?

We are so excited because this tiny guy is Peggy's rebirth. She gave her life for him....it is very emotional to us.

Looks dehydrated to me, I would put her in a tub with lukewarm water and a paper towel to help her shed. But maybe I'm wrong and something else is going on here? Hopefully someone will chime in.

i agree. it does look a little dehydrated. or maybe it is the dry yolk :shrugs: i am not sure

It does look at little dry. I might keep it on moist moss or keep the humidity up until we shed. It might just be yok on him but you hate to come this far and have a bad shed. But as far as hatchling care keep the temps and humidity what you would for any other corn. Make sure you offer lots of hiding areas. Is it just the picture or is his belly really big? It looks like he ate 3 pinkies already.

Just another thought... Was this last picture taken right after he came out of the egg? It is not that uncommon for them to look that wrinkly and dry until their first shed. I was thinking I was way behind on his hatching but catching up on the thread it only looks like I am about at day behind. lol If this picture was taken right after how does his belly look now.

to me it looks like some egg-goop has dried on the snake, hard to say from the one photo, though.

but congratulations, and i hope this one does well for you!
