Pippies!!!

Well, the last couple of pippies came out of their eggs yesterday, so they are all out now. They are all normals het for hypo snow, some brighter than others, and some darker than others. I already have a favourite :p

My female albino hets unknown's clutch should start pipping around wednesday so stay tuned everyone ;)

Geez, more than half this clutch is really aggresive! I slid the container off the rack and there already standing up is a curvy "S" position ready to strike at anything that comes near their body! Only a couple are nice, and Im only able to hanle about 5 of them out of the whole clutch of 21 babies...any advice on how to tame down these guys? Not many people are going to want these little hatelings...I'll try to get some pics of the hatelings and the nice ones after they shed.

Just reach in and scoop them up. Don't react if they bite you, it doesn't hurt. Once they realize you won't hurt them most should settle down. If people do not expect this behavior from hatchlings they should not be buying them. Just my oppinion. Good luck with your feisty lil uns!

The thing is though, Im a little nervous of them bitting me :S This is my second time breeding corns, and I know it doesnt hurt when they bite, but they still intimidate me in a way. I've been bitten several times by adults and babies, and it doesn't hurt, it just scares me all the time, and I just can't get used to it. I actually got bit just the other day!...any advice on how to help my phobia of being bitten? :p

I got over it when I had a sand boa. Mean bugger! I just put my hand in there closed my eyes and waited for him to stop biting me. He did not try to constrict me, he actually struck over and over like a baby copperhead would! The worst part is knowing they are going to do it, and knowing the signs. The way my husband got over it was he would open the bin of the snake he wanted to hold and just stand there looking at it until it started to relax and move around then he reached in and got the snake. Sometimes he got bit anyway, but usually the snake just came out without any issues.

Have you seperated them yet? If not they may be feeding each others fears of you. It might get better once they are seperated. But I am not sure, this is my first clutch that i am waiting on hatching. Will be very interesting.

Yes, they are all seperated, one in each bin setup in the rack I just build with my dad. I don't know if I would be able to do that, just let them bite me, lol. But I might try it, because your right, the worst part is knowing when they are about to strike. Thanks for the advice :)

Glad to help, the fear of being bitten is the only down side to owning snakes in my oppinion, its bliss after you find a way past it. Oh and making sure none figure out how to go all Mission Impossible and escape lol!

Haha, well I just finished popping them all, some of which required gloves ( ;) ) and the numbers come down to 15.6 normals het hypo snow. Only 6 females! And I would like to keep one to breed back to my hypo snow male (the father of this clutch) so that I can produce 6-8 different morphs! And I would like to also keep a male to breed to my snow female so I can get normals, amels, anerys and snows instead of just snows het hypo. Someone already offered me to buy all my females!!! I don't know what to tell him...but anyway, some other guy/girl offered to buy 10 normals from me. Several others said they were interrested and this other guy wants a bunch of amels. So I pretty much have at LEAST 15 on hold.

Sorry for writing so much, but I have to tell you guys this! My amel female who was also bred to my hypo snow male laid her second clutch today, which I was completely expecting, even though I didn't breed her again after she laid her first clutch. She and my normal female (mother of the clutch which hatched) always lay second clutches. Anywho, Ill start with my normal. Last year she laid around 12 eggs for her second clutch, all infertile. This year she laid 11 eggs for her second clutch, 3 fertile. Now my amel. Last year she laid 12 eggs for her second clutch, 5 were fertile. This year, she laid 19 eggs for her second clutch!!!....AND 18 are fertile!!!! Outstanding and I am very proud of her seeing as though I haven't ever bred my females for a second clutch. Anyways, thats all I've got to say and sorry for writing a huge paragraph :p :p

YAY! My amels clutch is hatching! Finally! Day 68!!!!! There is only one amel pipping but thats all. Ohh! And one little normal sed her skin today, and I got her to eat, she took the 1 gram pinkie within seconds!!! Im so excited :)

Ohh ya, and another what SEEMS to be a little high white reverse okeetee has pipped as well, but its hard to tell, I can only see its body, and I see the SLIGHTEST little bit of peach colour, but the rest looks white. Oh well, only time can tell :)

I got pics :)

Well, I got pictures of two normals post shed, and one eating. They both ate within seconds, but I only managed to get pictures of one of them eating because I needed to charge my camera.

Shes my keeper :)
