PNW Garter Snake

MysticExotics

(formerly NWHeather)
This one doesn't have the blue or teal green like the Puget Sound Garters, but s/he was pretty, none the less, with the yellow-ish stripes.

(I took this with my cell phone, so it's not that good of a picture)

I've seen several snake holes on my property, but this is the first one I've seen, since I moved to this place in April.

Speaking of PSG's, a friend of mine up on Whidbey Island said her husband came across about 8 or 9 blue PSG hatchlings, when he was moving some rocks on their property...I would have loved to have seen those!

Looks like the Mountain Garter that we have around here. Thamnophis elegans elegans. I can't be positive, but here is a juvenile I caught here about a week ago for comparison...

Looks pretty similar. The lines on mine seem different...not smooth lines, like the one you have pictures. I should have picked it up to get a better shot....next time :)

Man! Those things vanish in the grass! I'm up to three garters now, two wild caught and one bought Florida blue. They do seem to prefer the grass to other hides.

The addiction never ends! I need help! Must stop collecting snakes! Oh, wait. Hubby brought home another anitque gun. When is the next reptile show?

I'm resisting adding any other kind of snakes to my collection....for now....
I'll probably add Garter's at some point, along with one of the Carpet Pythons, & I'd love to add Eastern Indigos some day :)
