Progression Thread: Patternless Lavender Stripe

He shed again over the weekend, so here are more pics. He's too big for the deli cup now, and is still the meanest/feistiest snake I own so I can't handle him and shoot at the same time, so I have to shoot him in his tub. Not the best place to shoot him, but oh well. Enjoy!

For some reason that last shot just makes me think he's saying "Meanest Feistiest snake? Noooo I'm just chillin'!"
He's looking good! I feel like a see a little bit more pink on his sides in these pictures.

Why did I even look?? I love this snake so much. Hey, if you're afraid of him, I'll take him! I promise I won't have to handle him with wussy gloves. But seriously, he isn't even triangle-heading you! Have you tried putting him in a tree for photographing?

You are very obviously in the market for a blue bowl. You can find them at your local pet store, and are more than likely Dakota Corns endorsed. ;)

Cheers on a gorgeous snake!! It would be difficult to screw that picture up even without the blue bowl!!

Thanks for the compliments everyone! Seems he's in a bit of a growth spurt as it seemed like he just shed. I hope he keeps it up so he's up to breeding size in '10

More along the lines of "I dare you to get close to me, just see what happens!" :devil01:

Thanks Nanci! This guy doesn't even mess around with the coil/triangle head stuff. He just starts musking and biting as soon as you pick him up along with a good amount of thrashing about. He never really calms down - at least not enough for me to trust him in a tree. I tried that with some fake plants, he just kept trying to bolt away...

I still wouldn't trust him even in the infamous blue bowl!

Oh that cute little Zombie is really growing up to be one stunning snake! Seems that shed by shed he's losing those "corpse-grey shades" and becoming more rich and colorful.

I can't believe he's that mean. He doesn't look evil at all... I really hope he'll calm down as he grows up. Have you tried to handle him with gloves on? That's what I've done with my feisty miami (kept handling even though she didn't like it) and now she's slowly getting used to being touched. When having a snake in my hand my method has been: "If you don't move, the hand doesn't move". Meaning that as long as the snake stays put, the hand doesn't move or touch. The hand is just a platform. With my miami that has helped. :)

He shed over the weekend. Here are updated shots. Just passed 50g. Hopefully he'll be big enough to breed for me in '10...

Thanks everyone for the compliments!

I really like how he's losing the pink and turning such a nice blue/purple.

Me, too Nanci. I hope he keeps the purple/steelish blue color. I don't want him to dull out into a more plain gray type that some lavenders do.

The pair that produced him just had her pre-lay shed, so I hope I can get another one or two (and maybe an opal stripe since both are also het amel!)
