Psycho Sunkissed!

I don't think aggression necessarily runs through moprh lines but I do think it is very much hereditary. And from my findings so far it seems to be passed on from the dams. But as with any living creature there are always exceptions in every clutch.

I think it has something to do with wild blood.. when Sunkissed were first being bred the genes came from wild lines..
I can't remember if this is correct though, I might be thinking of Lava or something..

So, although I'm not really a huge Joe Pierce fan, I'll direct you to his informative thread on Sunkissed..
Keep in mind these are old threads ('06 and '05), the people who've written in them do not frequent the forum anymore, but they might have some good info.

Aww here's even one with Chuck in it!

lol, also, as I mentioned before, my nippiest snake has DEFINITELY been a Miami male.. generally my snakes calm down once they reach oh.. I'd say 30-40g, and they are never nippy again. This guy struck at me well into his first year!

Also, my Pewter male, who just shed this past week, struck at me when I opened his bin to take a picture.. I think it might be a grumpy old man thing..

No, I'm just kidding, every individual snake has his or her own personality. One NICE thing about the nippy ones, is it seems like they have GREAT feeding responses! I'm sure some of you know the relief I felt when my Sunkissed Mot male IMMEDIATELY grabbed onto the first pinkie I offered him before I'd even covered the feeding tub for privacy!

Also, little advertizing, if someone really likes the Sunkissed Blood that Nanci posted, they should buy some tickets for the 1.2 Hets for SK Blood and Charcoal!

ok, I'm done.

Thanks for the links I'll check them out. I thought Joe Pierce discovered the lava gene. The breeder I got these from said they popped out of the Okeetee bloodline. I'll read the links and see what info I can get, thanks again.

I'm pretty sure my honey (sunkissed caramel) was brought here by Lucifer himself. I've been keeping and breeding corns for 17 years now, and I've never been bitten and musked by a snake as much as he's bitten and musked me.

As soon as I pick him up he strikes at anything and everything and thrashes violently and musks me galore. I thought I had seen aggressive snakes before, but they're seeming puppy dog tame compared to this guy.

Here's a pic of him. Sure he seems innocent enough, but don't be deceived by his satanic leanings.

Definately a pretty snake! Thanks for your input. ~Jorge.

I have noticed some tendencies in certain morphs. I saw a Snakebytes video where Brian said he also noticed some morphs had more attitude than others. There seems to be quite a few people who are giving credence to the sunkissed thing. Of course there are always exceptions to everything.

yes but the question is, are they aggressive because of their morphs or because of their parents, who happen to be also of that morph. Does that make sense?

I agree to that, it's not necessarily their morph... but seems more likely to me that it could be their parents

Well it's kinda like trying to divide the spirit from the soul, lol. The morph is what the parents were. If the original animals that spawned the morph were high strung than it is tied together, I think. Also the needed inbreeding may have complicated the situation. Who really knows? But whether it is the Parents or the morph there seems to be enough people with nippy Sunkissed snakes. I have always thought that as we select for color and pattern we may be inadvertently be breeding unfavorable traits which are much harder to detect right away. We already have things like bug eyes with Lucistic Black rats, and other indesirable traits that are associated with certain morphs. Now not all animals of a particular morph have those traits. So this supports your point of it being the parents and not the morph. Still the traits are tied to the morphs.

His threads on Sunkissed are definitely not as extensive as his threads on Lavas, but they are still interesting.

Yeah I did find it very interesting, thanks! He did mention that Kathy Love was the originator of the morph. It was more centered around the pattern differences and almost no mention of temperment, but I found it very informative anyway.

I just saw this thread and had to respond, lol. Viola and Orsino, my '09 pair of sunkissed lavenders (orchids), are sooo sweet and curious. Neither one of them have ever tried to bite. When my neighbors comes over, they always ask to hold Viola. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she is so pretty? Well, on the other hand, Hera, my '10 sunkissed, and Zues, my '10 hypo sunkissed, have the worst attitudes! Hera is such a spaz if she is touched, let alone holding her. Zues is a spaz as well, only he strikes all the time at me. The only way he will eat anymore is with live pinkies, because they bump into him in the container and then he attacks them for touching him. I swear he is possessed! Oh, and speaking of okeetees, Ares, my '10 abbotts, is the worst hateling of them all! Bites and musk go hand-in-hand with him. He definitely has the worst attitude, even though he is so pretty. I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with these attitudes, lol.

Our Sunkissed Silverqueen is quite agile and you need to handle him with care.
He does not strike most of the times but he has quite some temperament.
Our Sunkissed anery is more like a runner. Quite fast, but never strikes.
Greetings
Chris

Thanks Troy, there does seem to be some nervousness with many of the Sunkissed. But there are exceptions to every rule! Thanks for your input.
