Questions regarding shedding...

For the past 3 weeks my gopher snake has been inactive and has only gupled down one very small fuzzy. Expecting a shed, I left her alone. She had spent 95% of her time in her cool hide burrowed beneath the aspen. (72-77 degrees) Alittle more than a week after this period of hiding I decided to check on her, and as expected her eyes were cloudy and her colors very dull. After checking on her she cleared up in about 4 days, I expected her to shed soon after that but a week has passed, and there's no sign of a shed and she's still very clear looking. I figured it would be pretty hard to miss the shed of a 22" snake in a 10 gallon tank.

It can take them anywhere from 3 to 10 days to shed after they clear up. You can always get her out for about a minute to get her moving and then put her back. I do this with my motley corn and I have found that he will usually shed pretty soon after being moved around, but I can also tell when he is ready to do so.

Thanks ali! Seems like I worried just an hour early though, because soon after the post I discovered her shed strewn about the tank, wrapped around the decour, lol. Not the perfect shed, definately tattered in some places, but it's all in one piece! She also left a nice present in her water bowl before she decided to slip back under the substrate. When would it be safe it feed her? Usually it's every weekend.

You can feed her whenever you want. It won't hurt to wait till the weekend if you want to stick with the same day.
