Hey so we got a new corn on Sunday. We were told it was to be fed on Thursdays. I was going to wait until Fri or sat because of it being new and all but now Izzy is going blue. Should I wait until after he sheds to try his first feed or just go ahead and try on Friday? If it matters he is a pet store snake ( breeders are better I know) so I am not sure how reliable their Thursday fed story is. As in they say he eats 2 pinkies every Thursday but I have no way of knowing 100% if that is true or whether or not he actually ate last Thurs or if it was regurgitated or not. He is very thin and small not sure he would be on 2 pinkies yet. So you see my issue here. Feed a snake who I am pretty sure is hungry before or after he sheds? Any advice would be helpful here.

First, Weight of the snake would be helpful to tell you if its big enough for 2 pinkies, if its under 15grams id say keep it on one. I would wait till after it sheds, Some snakes will eat in blue some wont, some will but then regurg so I dont think its worth it.

I would wait until after he sheds to feed him. If one pinky leaves a lump, then don't feed a second. If one pinkie doesn't leave a lump, thaw out a second one! Good luck and congrats on the little guy!

I would definitely wait to feed until after shed, if you are 100% sure he is in fact blue. If you are only a little sure, maybe try a small meal, like a tiny pinky (2g or less), or even just a head. Eating while in blue can lead to regurges, and since the little guy is new, it's even more likely, and especially if you think he's on the skinny side, a regurge is the last thing either of you need. On the other hand, he should be perfectly fine with waiting until after shed.
