It's always something, as Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say.

From Autumn through Spring, we blame the trolling on "well, the snakes are down, people are bored, yada, yada, yada....

During the Summer, we blame the trolling on the kiddies being out of school.

I'm going to propose something radical and drastic, to wit:

Let's blame the trolling on the trolls. :grin01:

Dale
(That said, PM me if you want to learn how to earn big bucks with GoogleAds in your blog.)

Trolls are getting pretty tricky now, "hiding" their spam in their signatures or actually making what appears to be decent threads/posts and then hitting you with their nonsense!

And Dale, I've had GoogleAds on my website for years, and have yet to see a dime. Every time I think they might actually send me a check, they change their check writing policy, upping the amount each time. I think I now have about twenty-something dollars, but need $100 to actually see it.

And as for the title of this thread, I have several excellent responses, but as a moderator, I must set an example...

Not to be (more of) a curmudgeon, but I've had google ads on my site for a few years, and they're literally my bread and butter. I get several hundred dollars a month from that revenue....which actually pays for the server costs and then some. It CAN be done.

Out of curiosity, Lori - are you using AdSense, AdWords, or both? What kind of traffic are you getting, and what do you attribute your particular success to?

Dale

I know we do use adsense, but only my webmaster knows the particulars. I'm web challenged, myself. The only "success" I know of is that my site gets over 2 million unique hits per month. If every one of those people would click on one google ad per month, I could retire happily.

What is your site, Lori?

I don't think I have seen it. Is it a herp site, or for something else? That is a LOT of hits!

Yep, Petfish.net

The stats are surprising for the low number of actual members we have, which is only just under 4 thousand.

Your signature info. site "Corn snakes as pets" is so full of misinformation, garbage, half-baked "info" I'd laugh if it wasn't eventually going to hurt or kill a snake. Please discontinue it immediately!

You just haaaad to make me go look at the site didn't you?! LOL! Printed paper-towels cause blisters? UVB light is needed to make them live longer? Corns rarely get over 4 feet? Corns need a hot spot but what? It doesn't need to be a certain temp? And I must be a really bad keeper because NONE of my corns are in 50 gallon tanks nor do they have wood. Seriously?
