religion and hybrids

:cheers:I like that idea of cracking open a few beers. Even bolder would be to try and engage in an intelligent discussion without defaming, belittling, or otherwise simply ignoring the subject. If the subject does not entertain or cause one to think.... I can understand that as well. It takes an open mind to try to see another person's point of view or to examine ones own point of view. Even a certain amount of courage is required to examine ones own thoughts on such a heated topic openly. It is much simpler to simply crawl into an egg shell and ignore why one thinks the way one does. So long as someone doesn't come along with a hammer or one is exceedingly good at hiding.... it works out to preserve ones own self identity or self worth. I agree, examining ones own inner thoughts on an issue takes much courage and some simply don't have it or aren't interested. It takes all kinds to make the world go round.

You keep bringing up dogs, dog/jackal hybrids and conservation of wolves. How is that at all relevant to this thread? Is there any religious group that have specifically raised objections to a known plan to replace wolves with feral dogs or with dog hybrids?

I keep bringing up dogs as baraminology... a dog is a dog argument is an old creationists argument that I've heard repeatedly while discussing this topic. Figured I would attack that line of thinking head on rather than being caught blind sided by it.

There simply is no difference in selecting for different breeds of dogs than there is in selecting designer morph corn snakes or hybrids. Man has after all used jackal x domestic dog hybrids to create dog breeds. Whether to include an animal into a certain species or not... again does seem to change from time to time.

But it's so peaceful!!! LOL

That it is... that it is....

Its so much harder to actually engage in intelligent debate or conversation as it pertains to a particular thread. Derailing a thread and ignoring the questions or examining why one thinks a particular way is much more challenging... but definitely not easy... as the many evading posts and snide or meme type posts so obviously point out. Think I'll take that  and hope against all odds that some will come out and find it in themselves to actually engage in the topic of this thread rather than hide behind empty remarks.

So, when an intelligent group of individuals is how they think religion influences our view of hybrids, breeding, etc.. etc... this is all you guys can come up with? Seriously? I think you can do better. Heck, I've even seen better memes that cover subjects like this... I mean, if you don't have any thoughts of your own on the subject matter.

For me, I get it that while there may be many different religions and I'll acknowledge that many pick and choose which parts they wish to believe in. Take the unicorn meme someone posted... Unicorns are in the bible. I don't for a minute believe that everyone that believes in the bible also believes in unicorns, talking snakes and donkeys, etc. Just like I don't believe that many that believe in the bible actually believe all the "kinds" of animals could fit on the ark given its dimensions. Where would the food go? How would you keep the animals from eating each other? A massive bottleneck that recent in our past? An earth a little older than 6,000 years old? There are many things I just can't grasp about the bible or many other religions for that matter. I don't believe or need to believe that Thor, Zeus, or Wakinyan make lightning. Those are valid religions as well though.

I do respect that those that believe those things have those beliefs however illogical I may personally find them. I can understand what is meant by a "kind" as described by creationist science aka baraminology. I can also understand what is meant by Leviticus 19:19 on the subject of hybrids. What I can't understand is the lack of willingness to examine ones own beliefs, thoughts, etc. on such a simple matter. We don't have to agree, but it is nice to genuinely share why we believe or think in a certain manner. The deeper we go into such thought processes the more we stand to understand about ourselves and how we relate to the world around us. I guess, I'm just a bit more open minded and willing to share than some in here. But, yes, I can also sense the fear of discussing such a heated topic as one might uncover that ones thoughts on the subject were completely illogical and without foundation in part or in whole and that can be devastating when one thinks of oneself as a generally rational being.
