WOOO HOOO!!!! I'm A Little Late..sorry Just trying to catch up on everything today!!! Congrats Josh!! thats an Awesome Clutch!!! (Can i uncross a few things?? I'm starting to get cramps in places a man aint supposed to get cramps!!!)

Wat happened? Did she slug out again? I just started following this thread & I'm on the edge of my seat lol.

Josh I am so sorry....so far the 2 females I have that have laid this season had all slugs too. You are not alone, even if you do feel like you are.

Now that really stinks! I'm sure you've been double-checking everything to see if you can find a reason...are the males all on the same rack that may need a temperature recalibration, are all the males younger or virgin, were the males used on other females this year, how many times were the males put with the females, how many witnessed breedings (or evidence seen), did the female take longer to accept the male after her shed, what was the time frame between matings and laying,...?

All their info is right here...
http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107082

All my pairings were 1:1...no repeat males. Only the Cinder male was a virgin. Lav Blood and Fire females are first time breeders. The males are all kept in the same rack, but I purposely keep it cooler than normal (79-81*). My females wouldn't breed until late in the season, but I figured it was because they were not brumated...males were. Most of the females bred within days of shedding. The longest was 2 weeks and that's the fertile clutch. Actually, the Butter Mot wasn't bred until 2 months after her shed because I didn't have the male yet. I'm trying for a 2nd clutch from them as we speak.

Am I missing something here? I really have no idea what I'm doing wrong...

Weird thought...what is the temps you keep the females at? Could they be too hot and killing the sperm before it gets a chance to fertilize the eggs? I'm grasping at straws, but there is just too many slugs from too many females in two years for it to just be Murphy's Laws. You might want to try to put the pairs together every other day instead of having 3 or more days between matings. Heck, try leaving a pair together for a week. It's worth a try! Killing a black chicken at midnight on a full moon might help too.

That blows man, 2 in a row.... Have you got good clutches from them in the past? Are the temps getting low enough? We here on staten island had a rough year last year too, seems to go in cycles for us.

Josh, I saw where there were times that you would place a pair together 4 days, etc., after the previous breeding. So, I agree with trying this. After the female sheds, place the pairs, together, every two days (sometimes, maaaybe 3).
Also, you could, maybe, keep doing this until the time that they no longer breed or for at least two weeks or so.

Sorry that you lost so many eggs this time around.
I would try and go off the suggestion of others, re-breed the ones that you want and make sure your temps are good too.

I really wish you luck on all of those eggs that you DO have though.
Maybe they will prove out to be extremely awesome colored corns, you never know though!

Thanks for the sentiment everybody!

I just checked the female rack...the hottest spot is 83.6*. I'll put my pairs together more often next time. Who knows???

The Butter Mot's sister has slugged out the last 2 years for another breeder. I'm thinking that one might be hereditary...

A mix of "iffy" eggs from the first 2 clutches (only 2 still look decent)
