Shamel Ash branch safe for my corn?

I was planning on giving my corn a branch to climb on from my shamel ash tree, but I wasn't sure if it has any toxic oils deadly to the snake like pine does. Does anyone here know if it's safe or should I go a different route?
 
I don't know about that type of tree is poisonous or not but i do know that whatever material that comes from outside should be sterilized by putting it in the oven, freezing it or put it in a bleach solution.
 
Ash trees are hardwoods. Hardwoods don't have the aromatic compounds that cause problems as do pines and cedars. The branch will be fine for (and probably much appreciated by) your snake. Scrub it up with soap and water, rinse well, and put it in the oven for up to an hour at 200 F. That will kill any creepy crawlies that may be inside the wood.
