Show me your other critters!

I'm sure there is another thread like this, but I just wanted to start another one. I wanna see some of your other critters. What furry critters or other reptiles do ya'll have? Here are my other critters:

Koji, My Shiba puppy:

Apollo, my giant halfmoon plakat betta fish:

Garfield, my rex lionhead mix rabbit:

Dusty, one of my gerbils:

Scooter, my other gerbil:

I've also owned two birds, numerous other fish, guinea pigs, hermit crabs, as well other other dogs and cats that have since passed on.

Now, what do you have?

Make sure to get a harness or a martingale collar for that gorgeous Shiba if you go out walking haha! I rescued one last year and learned the hard way after he weazled out of his (what I though was very snug) collar and ran for miles with me chasing far behind in my flip flops!

yeah we have a harness. He's weazled his way out a few times or just pulls so hard that he chokes himself the whole time. We have one of those ez walker harnesses that attaches in the front on his chest and that seems to do the trick. he is def a challenge, but has a great personality. They are characters that's for sure :)

Haha! YES THEY ARE!! And gorgeous!! But yeah I could not believe how tuned out they get when they get off leash! I have heard success stories with some learning not to run when loose, but in general they have this instinct to just take off and not look back. Scared the liver n lights outta me!!

What gorgeous animals, but Koji is just adorable!
Shibas are among the most beautiful dogs imo!

In addition to the chest harness you could try out a headcollar. Don't use it by itself, especially when he wiggles out of things, but it will help with the pulling and DEFINATLY keep him behaved on the leash. I have had SUCH a success with this on our 120lb german shepard that I am recommending it to everybody lol.

Aww, your critters are very cute and obviously well loved and cared for.

Here are some of my babies...

Bacchus, our old cuddlebug/black lab mix:
bacchus2.jpg

The kitties, T-Bone and Mark (aka "the fat one"), 13 year old brothers that I've had since they were a few weeks old:

Peanut, our male cockatiel, trying to "help" me play a game:

Spunk, my female leopard gecko (old pic, she's much bigger now):

...and Mozilla, my fiancee's male leopard gecko:
mozilla_sm.jpg

As soon as I dig up my camera from one of our several yet-to-be-unpacked boxes, I'll be spamming the forums with tons of new photos.

Oh, and as a side note, a friend of ours designed and produced a really cool dog harness. The leash attaches to the harness and the collar and gives strong control without putting hardly any pressure on the dog, and I can't see how a dog could get out of it. She gave one to us a while back, and though it took me a minute to figure out how to put it on at first, once you figure it out it's easy to remember and it works GREAT (she also made a video tutorial of how to use it). If you're interested in checking it out, shoot me a PM and I'll get you the info.

Samson, the cockroach killer

I'll play! Here are my two "show type" mice, Miss ears and Miss Tail. They're almost as docile as rats, and almost as big as small rats too!

015-1.jpg

Miss Tail with Nosie, the undermarked brindle I got from a local shelter. Brindle mice are prone to obesity, and as you can see she got that gene in abundance! I try to keep her fit...she eats a low fat diet and she does run in her wheel a lot, but it's not enough to keep her at a healthy weight.

040-1.jpg

Miss Paws, the banded Siamese. First and last ever pet store mouse. She killed my favorite mouse. I don't like her. Hubby doesn't want me to feed her off, so she stays since I can't find a home for the little monster. Whatever. She has a clean cage, fresh food and water, and a wheel.

022.jpg

The adorable little hammy, Peaches. I got her for myself, but my hubby ADORES this little one! I love her too, but he is just smitten with her fuzzy little face! She runs to the front of her tank when she hears his voice, and doesn't stop pawing at the glass until she gets to come out for a cuddle and some treats.

015-2.jpg

The kitties. Sherpa is the darker one, Charlie is the lighter one. Charlie isn't really fat, the picture just makes her look like she is.

009-1.jpg

My heart dog, Jasper. His Gotcha Day is coming up on Monday, I'll have had him for four years!

100_0782-1.jpg

Grendel. Ever the crown jewel of my snake collection. Words can't say how much I love this snake. Can you see the intelligence in his eyes? He's remarkably smart.

snick194.jpg

Chubby is my little old lady hognose. Intellectually, Grendel's opposite. She has to be closely monitored at feeding time to make sure she doesn't try to eat herself. Still, she has a fantastic temperament. I've taken her to work with me, she has been many people's introduction to snakes, she's calm and fearless and 100% perfect.

DSCN2586.jpg

OMG everybody's critters are so amazing! Ceduke, your little mice and hammy are so adorable! I think some people underestimate the differences between getting a store pet and a breeder pet of any species. I have had "fancy mice" and rats. All were from breeders and some of the greatest little fuzzies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Keep bringing on the pics this is fun and it's nice to get to know people through their love of all kinds of creatures. Thanks for playing! I can't wait to add pics of my baby corn on Weds. It's gonna be a long few days lol. I'm not excited am I? :)

I'll spare you posting all of my non-corn snakes, since I have almost 20 of those! So here are my fuzzy friends only... ;)

Rudy the pooch - he's a 40lb mixed breed, rescued from the pound over 5 years ago (as a puppy).

Bindi the 3ish year-old female tuxedo, who I literally picked up off the streets.

Kona the 14 year-old Siamese mix (old photo)

And Cyrus, my 10 year-old Blue Persian (another old pic)
IMG_2274.jpg

He thinks he's a snake... LOL.

Sable, my 12 year old tortie (she's my princess :) )

Tempest, my 2 year old tortie (spoiled child!)

And Monty, my 6 year old turquoise green-cheek conure (the demanding needy one!)

Awwwww, that Shiba is so cute!! I've kind of contemplated/ wanted to own one, but I've heard they can be somewhat hot headed and independent. They're SO DARN CUTE though!

Right now I don't have any animals besides Tarantulas and Snakes.

Here's a rabbit I used to have though. He was a sweetie. His name was Steak. ;)

Here are some of mine. I have a ton with a list of other pets I want eventually.

First, the turtles. Both wild caught (not by me) and finally eating! They are native to my state and I found them at the local reptile shops who aren't allowed to sell them. That's $255 worth of turtle for free (prices according to Turtle Shack. Why the heck are ornates so expensive there?). Please meet Goose and Fish (Fish for aquatic and Goose for semi-aquatic).

IMG_0095.jpg

Next up: The dragons! Ella, Elmo, Raven, and Tiger. Sam was stolen from me by my nephew, which is okay. Tiger and Raven were rescues and Elmo was given to me while I was sunbathing with the reptiles at the park. In the first picture, starting from the bottom is Raven, Ella, then Tiger. Elmo is the second picture.

IMG_0047.jpg

Now for the mutt, Scrappi. She's a cocker spaniel/poodle mix or cockapoo. She's my faux kitty.

Scrap03.jpg

And for the kitties. Cassie, Spookie, and Mew. Mew adopted us by getting into the house when I'd moved out (long story here) to live with my boyfriend. That didn't work out and I moved back into my apartment. While I'd been living with my boyfriend, I forgot to close a window and she made herself at home in my box spring that I'd left in the apartment. I didn't realize she was there until one day I finally pulled the top off of my box spring to see what my girls were so interested in. Out popped Mew. I couldn't get her to leave, so now she's ours. Or, we're hers. I'm not sure which.

At any rate, Cassie is the calico. Spookie is black, and Mew is the Siamese.

I'll just post my fur babies for now.

This is my eldest cat, Hermione. She is 11 years old. One of her eyes turned dark brown. It's melanosis. Usually it doesn't turn into melanoma but it can. It can also cause glaucoma. In both situations the eye would have to be removed.

This is Gwydion my little Turkish Angora boy. He died of Feline HCM at only 1 year and 3 months old. I still miss him and think he was the most beautiful cat I've ever owned and had so much personality. He even liked to hop in the bathtub lol.

Last but not least is my fluffy bunny, Aria. I got her at a flea market for 5 dollars as a dwarf.

Here she is as a baby.

Sorry to hear about your baby boy. I'm the same with my Moe Moe (who was put down to advance cancer of the bladder) and Skeeter, who I had to put down last year at 14 due to a heart murmur, kidney failure, and general old age. I'd had him for about six months and the previous owner didn't tell me about his health problems. The vet I brought him too just thought he was a skinny old man with a murmur. :(

As for that dwarf, I think maybe she might be a runty Flemish Giant. Lol.
