I don't really have any advice, but if it means anything to you, I also got my cornsnake in may and he hasn't grown very much either. Lot's of tips on this thread. Thanks!
Check that your pinks are good. My Hades just refused the last two from my old stock and when I took them out they looked nasty. Never seen it before so I called a couple of folks and they said that bad mice will sometimes break down faster once defrosted. Going to wait for his next scheduled feed and offer him some from the fresh batch.
they do look a little red to usual and have a lot of freezer burns on them, might pop in to the shop and pick up a few more though to be sure. bit annoying though as iv got 8 that are like this and i dont want to waste them, might save them for my snake that is on fuzzys and bump him up to 1 fuzzy and 1 pinky soon (is this recommended before moving up to 2 fuzzys?)
I've never had trouble getting mine to eat pinkies with freezer burn. I'd be looking for an alternative explanation as well as trying "perfect" ones.
Two fuzzies - I'd do that for a couple of feeds before going to small mice, but I don't usually keep them on double fuzzies for long (normally just to finish up a stock of them). Mine tend to put on a growth spurt once they get onto single small mice which indicates to me that they have a better nutritional content than double fuzzies.
how would i know when to move up to double fuzzys (this is obv not on my midget snake ) he has only eaten single fuzzys 4 times now, im guessing he still has to be on them for a good couple of months before doubles are an option or am i wrong?
Yep, I think I'd leave him on single fuzzies for a while yet. The key is to keep and eye on the lump in the snake after feeding. Once it goes down within 24-48 hours after feeding, then it's worth trying to move up.
I've fed my snow (a late '09) one fuzzie every seven days since July. He was growing fast for a while, now he's growth rate has slowed down. I'm about to put him on double fuzzies. The trick is not to rush them; I may be overly cautious with Balthazar because of the problems I've had with Nimue.
yer im in no rush to get him bigger as smaller food is cheaper food just wanted a rough idea as hes the biggest snake iv ever had so im not so knowledgeable about them when they are older
she ate a pinky (2 weeks since the last one which is weird as she never goes this long, although i purchased some larger pinkys today so that might of changed her mind), i lightly dusted the bum of the pinky with reptiboost, should i use it again next feed or skip it for a few sessions?
