Snow corn x albino king predictions?

The real answer depends on the type of albino king used. Some amels in kings are allelic with corn, some are not. If the amels are compatible you'll get amel Jungles. if they are not, then you'll get normals. Jungles are Cali x Corn. If it's Not a California King, It's not truly a Jungle corn.

Some crosses I'd like to see are :
Prairie King X Corn. (It's been attempted)
Hypo Goini X Brooksi X Corn ( could it start a "new" line of Sunkissed without the Stargazer gene?)

F1 baby's will all look about the same, since they all carry 50% king and 50% corn genes for a fact. F2 can carry in distribution of king and corn genes, since the parents can 'donate' either kind of genes for every single gene pair. So, there will be more variation in looks with some looking more like kings and others more like corns.

But, the more extreme the distribution of the genes (like 95% corn with 5% king), the less they occur within the F2 clutch. Theoretically one could hatch a pure corn or king in F2 but that is a very small chance (thanks for explaining that to me once SerpWidget :) ).

Thanks for the info everyone. I have 1.1 albino Cali Kings and one male snow corn. I'm trying to decide on if I should attempt to breed my female albino King with the male snow corn or if I should just breed her with my other albino King to see if they produce albino hatchlings...

The CalKing Albino and the Corn Amel genes are compatible. A cross between an Albino CalKing and an Amel Corn has the potential to produce Amel Jungle Corn in the F1, but it is more likely from the F2 onwards. There are documented Amel Jungle Corns being produced in the F1.

Or where those kings perhaps not pure kings? where they carrying an amel corn gene already? I think that it's a yes or no case; they match or they don't.

I was just re reading this thread. I will post pic's of their hatchlings (snow corn x albino cali king) next season here if they decide to do the deed just so anyone who comes across this wondering can know what turned out with mine.

Sucessful Hook Up

Ok, the deed has been done. They've hooked up a couple times now so I should be getting Jungle eggs in a couple months. What they will look like.. we'll just have to see!

That is a size difference. I hope you get an awesome mixed up clutch. I love the varieties of jungles, If I get one he'll have a crazy aberrant pattern.

Countdown Starts!

Good luck, can't wait to see! So I've gotta ask though... How did you keep the king from trying to eat the corn?
