Yes, he is a bit skinny. Arjan told me this certain bloodline has the tendency to produce very slim snakes, so I believe him. Spook is a yearling and weighs now 77g which is ok, especially as he is slim. So the length is even better.
Slim or not, he has now been a bit of a problem feeder. He regurged his first meal after he arrived to me, but I wasn't worried. The moving stress might have caused that. The second meal stayed in, but the third he vometed again... I'm starting to get a bit worried here. I thought I'd now keep a longer break before feeding him again, and then give him only a couple of pinkies. Those he should be able to keep inside... And then gradually increase the size of his food. Or what do you think?
Spook has been quite a handfull... There was a time when he regurged almost every meal and I was rather certain he wouldn't make it... I've been in touch with the breeder and he said this problem unfortunately is a common thing in this bloodline which is why you don't really see adults directly from this lineage (no outcrosses).
Now Spook's doing a lot better. First of all he's still alive even though I was certain he wouldn't see the spring 2010. Also now he's able to hold almost every meal in. He does regurge once in a while, but that's getting more and more random. He weighs now 107g, so he's gaining weight slowly but steadily. Still skinny and underweight, but getting better day by day. I hope he keeps up with this progress and he'll be big and healthy enough for brumation next winter.
I guess you're referring to the "grey head" Silver Queen and Miamies? In Spook's case the head is so called "bald" because of the bloodred trait which usually makes head pattern vanish. Young bloodreds have grey heads but as they mature the head turns red. Of course Spook's head will stay grey as he's ghost blood.
