Staying on cool side

if you want a good thermo go to lowes. they have a home use one that does indoor/outdoor temp and indoor humidity. you have to keep the thermo in the cage but its not that big or ugly. so i put that on the cool side and it reads the cool side temp and humidity. and theres a probe and i run that to the hot side and tape it to the floor of the cage. it has double sided tape on it from factory. and it works great. for 12 bucks i couldnt beat it. and i just bought another for 12 bucks again for a new carpet im gonna be getting. they often have bag sales and other coupons too for 20% off so keep an eye out. saving money is great.

as for thermo/rheostat. get one asap. or make one. check the DIY forum here. very easy. or you can probably find a plug in rheo at lowes also.

Another tip is that in the future don't actually stick the heat pad to the tank...it will often stay a few degrees cooler....simply slide it under the glass... this will also eliminate the chance of a stress crack if water ever gets spilled on the hot side. :)

A!0Airknight-I've gotten my digital thermometer/humidity reader from Petco here in Bloomington. You just have to catch them when they have some in stock and out on the floor. Also , I would always check Petsmart as well, cause they have them sometimes too a lot cheaper then 25 bucks.

Alright so I got the equipment yesterday. Turns out the hot side was in its recommended range but I lowered it to 80 degrees and this morning my snake is on his/her hot side, in the hide!

The cool side, as of last night, read a degree above its recommended range. I'll have to check again this morning, it might have dropped with the drop of the other side.

I checked the temperature again today and the cool side reads around the 80s (27 C) as well! Dow anyone have suggestions on how to cool it? I had the fan on it all night and that doesn't seem to be decreasing the temperature at all.

27 C is 80.6F which would be a good temp for your Corn. You may want to bump it slightly to 28 or 29. 28 would probably be perfect, though. :)
