I fed my corn yesterday and he struck the mouse so hard it started to bleed!! It was a rather small fuzzy a little smaller than I normally feed, but I was always wondering how strong a snake is considering it is like a 2 foot long muscle. But this proved it; I would never want my snake to mistake my hand for a mouse.

Don’t Corns have 127 teeth??

I was also wondering about handling after feeding, I know you are supposed to wait 48 hours, but I feed my snake a live mouse yesterday because I couldn’t get frozen and I am afraid to look over him to make sure there are no damaged scales. I am afraid he will mistake me for another mouse and strike, I am more afraid of hurting him if he does this. Any suggestions?

I feed all my snakes live mice, the ones that eat adult mice however, get a semi concious mouse. I would doubt there is any damage to your snake. I personally only follow the 48 hour rule with hatchlings. If you want to check him out, go ahead, I'm sure he won't mistake you for a mouse. I'm assuming from your post that your snake is about 2' long which means you probably had him for a while right? Just be gentle but deliberate when you pick him up.
A 2' corn can do little damage to your flesh BTW. Yes they have plenty of teeth, but they are small teeth and they know it. Unless of course, it's Marcel's Bloodred.......LOL

Hahaha yeah... I punched him on thanksgiving, so I have had him for a wile. I would say he is a good 2' but I also don’t know when to upgrade to the next size of mouse?? I’m on fuzzy now and my snake I about as think as a nickel or so maybe a little larger. Next step would be a hopper, but I don’t know if he can keep it down.

I think my snake had regurgitated once, the mouse was still like mouse like but he had it down for 2 days. I would say it was about twice as thick as he was.

I guess I can get him out tomorrow and feed in 4 more days again, I hope he sheds again soon, I cant wait till he is like 4 feet long and like 3in thick, I find it so impressive!

I've got a small 2' female that eats small adult mice, depends on the snake. She has no problem keeping them down, but just doesn't seem to grow very fast. 4' corns are certainly impressive, 5 footers are awsome, but are getting rarer these days. Good luck with yours

I just have another quick question, I know I could just look on the Internet, but face it I mean i'm lazy...

What is the normal life expectancy for a corn?

You also have to consider that altered living environment; I keep my temperature humidity and feeding perfect. I find feeding should stay on a strict schedule.

I was thinking about like 15 years or so am I correct in this, and if not how far off. I once heard of a corn living for like 27 years!!

I think under optimal conditions they can live 20 years on average

10 - 15 years average, 20 is not uncommon, and the world record appears to be 32 years.

Don't take this the wrong way, but, yes it is all over the internet. Those results were most of the first two pages on Google that I got when I typed in "corn snake"...you could've saved yourself a lot of typing and waiting around to hear the answer from somebody else.
