The Official Python Thread

I saw the milk snake thread and decided to make one for the python owners, since I recently got a carpet myself. Unfortunately I don't have her yet. Waiting on better weather for shipping.

These are some pics the breeder gave me. She's a Coastal/Jungle/Diamond intergrade.

Your girl is SO pretty! I personally covet one of the Jaguar/IJs, but all the carpets seem to be strikingly beautiful snakes.

My only python is a BP normal male, named Indy. Nope, not exciting by most people's standards, I know, but he's a fantastic pet, and I really love him. So much so that I rehomed my other 2 normal BPs to others, because I was spending all my time playing with this guy. The others weren't getting their fair share:

Cool BP, even if he's not one of the fancy morphs. I was actually thinking of getting one just like that before I found out about carpets!

You're not going to believe this, but the breeder was selling all the sibs from my girl's clutch for $100 because they didn't have the jag gene (mind you, they're all yearlings). What a steal! They all had some crazy patterns and colors, but this girl really stood out.

If I ever get another carpet, it will be an inland. I happen to know the only breeder in the US who is breeding them. First clutch will hatch sometime in the spring.

My lovely Carlotta! I just got her from a really cool breeder in January. She is really sweet although she has yet to eat. She was born in May 2010. Can't wait for her to start eating again and grow. :)

ZoologyGirl, that is the most beautiful GTP I have ever seen. Really breathtaking!

@Mrs.Z I thought you had more than one BP?

I had three BPs. 1 female and 2 males. Puppette, Monty and Indy. Puppette and Monty went to live with 2 different families. Puppette will most likely make babies at some point, as her new family already had a male. Monty is a little boy's pet :).

Heather, I think your GTP is amazingly beautiful! I love the blue and green together. I'm thinking about adding one to the family someday in the future, but not for awhile, as I haven't got the right setup ready at the moment.

Aww did you cut your collection down?

My turn!
Malakai, my almost two year (in May) old Irian Jaya Carpet Python. He is super small for his age due to not being as well cared for as he could have been when he was a baby. But I love him and his feisty personality!

Actually Emily, he's a good size for a 2yo... Too many people over feed Carpets...
They are willing feeders so get fed far too often.......
Here's a couple of mine.....

Just the BPs. I found myself giving Indy most of the attention, and neglecting to give the other two wonderful BPs the attention they deserve. It seemed like the fair thing to do for them, as they actually seem to enjoy (or at least not object to) human companionship on a regular basis, unlike most of my other snakes, who don't really care one way or another whether they're handled often or rarely.

I also want an Inland, but I have a feeling I won't be able to afford one this year. It will come, though!

Here is Zephyr, my Woma!

The day I brought him home:

I have to get some new pictures of Charlie, my IJ!

That Woma is gorgeous! I don't know much about them, but noticed the somewhat flat body...are these semi-aquatic? Just curious...

I love pythons! Something about the shape of the head, those heat sensors under the lips (am seriously brain farting on what they are called) and the generally heavy bodies that make them gorgeous.

I had several balls back in the day (70's and 80's) when we didn't know much about caring for them at all like we do now. Despite that, I had two for over 10 years, and never had one die on me, even though at that time they were all wild caughts. Tough guys those! We had nothing more than Hot Rocks, lights, and old aquariums with homemade tops (yes, there were escapes, but they wre always found!). Yet they thrived...go figure.

Now I'm back into the hobby with a corn, and am realizing all the mistakes we made back then. It's nice that the animals can be made more comfortable and happy these days, and it's easier to get their exact needs met!

I only have ball pythons. These aren't all of them; I need to get some new pics of some of them, but here are a few in my collection:

Unnamed female Super Pastel I produced in '09:

Quite the opposite -- they are ground-dwelling snakes accustomed to arid conditions. They enjoy burrowing. And thank you for the compliment!

Thanagar, the brilliant....looking, spotted python.
