The Official Python Thread

Where does the name Thanagar come from? Sounds very Germanic.

Awesome pics so far, love all of them!

My girl is coming Thursday morning! Can't wait!

Awesome! Say, I bet you're waiting for that Captain America flick to come out, eh?

What kind of python is Thanagar? Looks like a morelia but I'm not sure which kind exactly.

Doh! Just saw spotted python at the end of your post, lol. It's after happy hour so I'm allowed one mistake haha

We have several pythons!

Anne is our 07 albino ball girl. She was from Royal Constrictors and while she was pricey...she has really held her color!

She finally arrived today! I think I'll call her Myldreth. Tried to get a good pic of her but I didn't want her to strike the glass again. Boy, she's really nippy. Taming her is gonna be really fun. I'll have to work up the courage to handle her tomorrow. I almost got tagged today when I was putting her in her new viv. She also bore her teeth at me a few times before she found her hide. Think I'll wear a glove or something. What a step in a strange direction from corns, haha.

I'd give her a week or so to settle in and get more comfortable with her surroundings before attempting to handle her again. She's going to be very stressed out from the move and new environment. I also wouldn't feed her during this time.

Very pretty snake!

Thanks, you're right. I won't feed her for 10-12 days. I'm still debating about whether to handle her tomorrow, though. It's hard to resist the urge! I ordered some eco terra decor, including a better hide rock than a black paint tray, lol. Also got her a basking lamp, so she's going to have to deal with me anyway.

She's tamed a bit - no longer striking at the glass and exploring her new enclosure. Here's a pic of her wrapped around her thermometer.

I would give up a kidney for that male butter! He's gorgeous! I also like Georgia! I have a few snakes on my wish list this year and a BP is one of them.....someday, maybe.
I only have ball pythons. These aren't all of them; I need to get some new pics of some of them, but here are a few in my collection:

Oh, baby carpet bites are cute, not scary. You don't even feel them. Neither of mine bite, but I visited some of a friend's a couple of weeks ago and let them chomp me in the interest of socialization. Adorable!

I have two carpets, an IJ and an IJ/Coastal sib. Here is Sahar, my little IJ boy:

He came from the same house as Emily's Malakai, though he was bred by a different person, so he's also pretty small. But he is absolutely the sweetest thing EVER, which is why his name means "sugar" in Russian. All of his nicknames are pastry-based. He is lovely.

Princess Zillah is a little less willing to smile for the camera, but here is one shot of her lovely face:

Pythons are addictive. My husband and I will soon have to have... a discussion... ;)
