The usual "first time owner" questions!

Yeah, i've been drinking my tap water for 3 years now (when I moved here) and I'm not dead yet! LOL. Well, my mice came in today so I offered him one, he took it down with no hesitation! I'm a proud Papa LOL. I do have a question regarding water though, I've had his bowl in there since i've had him, i've been changing it out every 2 days to keep it fresh, but it doesn't seem like the level has dropped at all, how do you know if he's drinking? I haven't seen him drink yet.

I catch my cornsnake in the act of drinking very rarely. And she is a big girl so she has a large bowl and since I change every day to every other day, I never notice I drop in level. I just trust she is drinking.

I think once you catch her drinking - you will feel better, but I can assure you that corn snakes are rather intelligent and she knows how to find water when she is thirsty.
So unless you see signs of dehydration, such as very poor sheds, I would not worry. Of course just because snakie had a bad shed does not mean you need to worry immediately about dehydration, as lots of factors can contribute to a poor shed.

Good luck!

Well, I woke up to a surprise this morning! I'm shocked, he had no signs of shedding, his eyes and colors were bright, he was active, ect.

Usually the signs of cloudy clear up for a few days right before the shed. And some snakes don't rest as much as others pre-shed. Also, from the pics it looks like your snake is amel so red eyes don't blue a much as regular corn snakes.

Congrats though! That's a good shed - sign of a healthy snake. Sounds like you're doing great. And another sign that he is probably drinking since dehydrated snakes usually have poor sheds.+

All good info! Funny you mentioned that, the first thing I thought of when I saw the shed was " he must be drinking!" LOL.

Congrats, that's a beautiful shed! As you get to know your snake better and go through a few sheds you will learn the signs that your individual snake gives pre-shed. It doesn't take long, either. I got with the program by my snake's third shed with me.
