Thermostat not setting

smigon

Old enough to know better
I bought a Jump Start Hydrofarm and the dang thing won't work! I plugged the UTH into it and plugged it in, it flashed "E3" and I held the "set" button down for 3 seconds. I was able to get to the desired temp, but when I hit "set" again it goes back to the "E3". During all of this the heater had no change of temp.

What am I doing wrong?

So, you hold it for 3 seconds, it flashes, then you press up/down the arrows to get to the temp you want, and then when you click "set" again is reverts back to E3 screen??

That sounds like a faulty electronic. Is there a restart option? (I actually have 2 Jumpstarts but never checked to see if there's a restart button)...

Otherwise, I'd send it back to Amazon and get another one.

Don't think I've ever seen the E3 screen on any of my Hydrofarms. E3 is an error. Try resetting it although I think I'd just return it since it has malfunctioned once it could be a problem and do it again, I wouldn't be able to trust it!!

From the Hydrofarm website:

Q: What do the error codes mean on my Heat Mat Thermostat?
A: E1: temperature is below the low limit. Or the temperature sensor has an open circuit. E2: the temperature sensor has a short circuit. E3: temperature is above the high limit. To reset the MTPRTC: Unplug the unit and then while pressing the set button, plug the unit back in.

Thanks Greg! I will try that when I get up, I am about to go to sleep!!!

I bought it off of eBay for $25 and they immediately refunded all my money!

This is compared to the old Sony Walkman that said "HEADPHONES" in the title and description (that was all I wanted, those particular kind of headphones) for $6.99 a couple weeks ago. When I contacted him I was told to read the description (it does say "headphones"), there was no pic of the headphones, eBay TOLD them to add "headphones" to broaden the buyer potential even though it was a lie, and when I called him on it he told me to "f**k off". I said I would return them when he sent me a pre-paid envelope, then I would get the rest of my money (I sort of think he thought that he had already refunded me the overage from the shipping cost but hadn't) and told me to "take your two f*****g dollars and go to hell. STELLAR transaction.

Guess who got her money back in full? THIS girl!!!
