How many hours per day/week would I spend taking care of ONE PET snake? Please note that I do not the time I would WANT to spend with the snake, but the time that I would HAVE to spend (cleaning, feeding, etc.).

Realistically, you'll spend about 15 minutes per week feeding your snake, spot cleaning the cage, and refilling the water bowl. Once a month or so, you'll want to change the bedding and sanitize the cage and accessories but that's about as tough as it gets.

For an adult Corn, I reckon about half an hour to feed/thorough spot-clean of poop/change water, once every 10-14 days (longer if they're a fussy eater or take their time). After that, a couple of minutes every 2-3 days to change water, and 5 minutes every 10-14 days to spot-clean.

The full bedding change/disinfect of a viv takes me around an hour for a full-sized three foot one. Hatchling tanks are much easier - quick squirt of reptile disinfectant & a rinse under the shower.

As you can tell from the other replies, one corn will take up very little of your time; if mine weren't so damn big I'd forget he was there. They are the best pets you can buy and so easy to look after, you won't regret it.

It sounds soooooooooo much easier than my 100 gallon saltwater aquarium! :headbang:

What if I have to do both (aquarium AND corn)?
Thanks for the replies!

I know what you mean! I have 2 small aquariums, one cold and one tropical, snakes are soooo much easier! I thought fish were easy until I had snakes!

:grin01: Snakes are much easier to take care of. :crazy01: I have given away all my exotic fish. My husband said the fish or snakes. I choose the snake. :nyah:
