Unexplained Experiences... and LOLghosts

OOOOKKKK... I'm slightly scared at the moment..
Last night was really creepy, I heard something crying, a child or something, then I went to the bathroom and when I walked out of the bathroom I saw like legs walking for a bit and then disappearing...
Now, the scariest thing just happened right now. I put all the lights on in the house it freaked me out so much. While I was walking out of my living room, I glanced in to the mirror and I saw this gray, ghostly man sitting on the bed and I just screamed and ran.
It sucks being alone in my house.. and I don't understand why all of a sudden these things are happening since the house was normal for like 2 years...
Ahhh.. and the temperature just went down by 15 degrees...
I'm so freaked out!

This silly topic is still going on? It's ri-goldarned-diculous. I love it. People will stand by the delusion that we don't use all of our brain capacity and then disregard the possibility that we have the capacity to fool ourselves into all sorts of crap. Find the most hellacious, haunted, malignant point on this planet, and I'll sleep there like a baby for as long as you're willing to fund my residence there.

And believe me, I've spent YEARS practicing all sorts of dream manipulation techniques. I'm a consummate master at this point. I've seen and done things that would make you para believers wet your undies. But guess what? They were DREAMS. Maybe you underestimate your own mind's capacity to spin alternate realities. I don't.

Please share!

Well, for example, I've had literally thousands of what paranormal believers would call "out of body" experiences (or extracorporeal excursions). Train yourself to dream with volition, and these things can be commonplace. But they aren't truly "out of body" experiences. Lucid dreaming (where will applies in dreams) is not paranormal. It's mind over matter, or more accurately, mind over mind.

Ok...well, I still think you can't explain some of the paranormal stuff with science... lol
Like what? What CAN'T the human mind fool us into perceiving? Some people hear voices telling them to kill people. Are these people extra-perceptive, or are they schizophrenic? Never forget Occam's razor...

Ok...well, I still think you can't explain some of the paranormal stuff with science... lol
I also think it's funny that when a skeptic tells you he's had thousands of out-of-body experiences, you blow it off as nothing. If I had been a fellow believer, you'd have asked for all sorts of "spooky" details to trouble your sleep tonight.

You're young, Paulina. Don't let your fascination with bullcrap dull your fascination with the mysteries of the REAL world. Trouble yourself with the mysteries that CAN be explained, not with those which are stupid and will never have explanations because they're purely in the realm of fantasy. Let the deranged Woo-Woo people deal with the silliness of the paranormal and supernatural. Defy this advice, and you'll die in the same condition you are in now: gullible, ignorant, and without any more answers than you have now. I RESPECTFULLY offer this advice...

i'm not actual that muchof a believer but i still have sometimes where i get freaked out by that kind of stuff. But honestly can you really say that science proves it its just like someone hearing voices its just as easy to blame it on an illness as it is to blame it on ghosts or whatever you can't really prove that that is infact why they were hearing things. science can come up with theories for it but not neccessarily prove that it is in fact why these people see things or hear things

If you wanna get technical...

science cannot "prove" anything. Thermodynamics, relativity, and yes, even evolution are all scientific theories. You can use science to try to help find out whether or not something is true/real, but it cannot prove things. You have to understand what I mean by "prove". People say: "Well science has proven..." or "It's a science has shown us..." Science is best defined as man's observation(s) of the natural. For someone to make the assertment that something does or does not exist(big foot for example), that person would have to be every at the same time. I mean every singlingle square inch of space in the world to prove that something does not exist. Science is also something that can be repeated and observed, so if you want to get even more technical, not to step on anyones toes here but, evolution is not science at all because it cannot be reapeated and it cannot be/was not observed, it is accepted by faith. In order for science to really "prove" something, that something would have to be infinetely repeated and observed with the same outcomes. One could not ever come to a point of proving this thing because the process must ALWAYS be repeated and observed. Many things are presented today as scientific fact, when they are nothing more than theories. I don't really believe in "ghosts" or that bigfoot exist or that dinosaurs still roam the earth, but it is possible. No one on earth can 100% prove or disprove these things. I do not believe in evolution. It is scientific fact, though it is often presented as such. It is only a theory. Should people still learn ABOUT evolution as a THEORY? I think they should and if they chosse to believe it for themselves, fine. It is not my place to judge others, that authority rests with Someone a little higher up than me. I still feel that is important to learn about these other beliefs/theories so we understand where others are coming from and so we can defend our beliefs and maybe have a positive effect on others lives. I believe in God. I want to share God with other people. Its not my place to shove God down their throats or try to force them to believe. God gives them that choice themselves. I used to believe in evoulution myself, but if I understand where they are coming from, I can better explain why I don't believe in that and why I believe what I believe, and hopefully God can work through me to create positive change in someones life. Theres my two cents.

my point was the same general idea as the last ones so if you didnt understand it read that lol ty for making it sound less ridiculous

What utter bollocks! I'm sorry but that is rubbish.

First of all you have to understand the scientific use of the word "Theory" is different to the popular "domestic" use of the word "Theory". "Scientific Theory" results from the application of scientific methods in a way to explain phenomenon or sets of phenomena based on extensive research, evidence and testing.

Seen as you brought up evolution, and your disbelief of it i'll use THAT as an example...
Evolution is an on-going process, It doesn't just stop. Therefore it can (and has) been observed. The easiest example being Bacteria, There are many Antibiotic resistant strains of common illnesses, These Antibiotic resistant strains have evolved from earlier strains that were very susceptible to the Antibiotic. Bacteria evolution has also been observed in many other forms of bacteria, For example the Escherichia coli virus has been observed mutating into new strains with completely different Genetic makeup in as little as 4 days. Also, theres several documented instances of Speciation (When one species evolves into another.) involving multi-cellular organisms [Info]. Theres also molecular test results from tests carried out on various plants and animals that support the scientific theory of evolution. Hell, Just look at corn snakes. The amount of different colour morphs available, All stemming from a single mutation - THAT is Evolution through inheritable mutations.

Want more evidence of evolution? Look it up on the net... theres hundreds if not thousands of points to consider. Shared Pseudogenes between species. The fact that many different species can interbreed (Donkey/Horse = Mule.).

Scientific theorys are not just pulled out of someones imagination, like other things i can think of have been. They've been tried and tested many, many times before they are accepted as fact.

Do you deny gravity exists aswell?.

Um.. i have no idea how the cornsnake thread link got added into that post, I hadn't even copied + pasted it. :s If some nice friendly mod could just remove the link and thread title that'd be great thanks. (No edit button for me.)

Hey Paulina,

I didn't intend to sound so harsh in that last reply. Some people equate the word "ignorant" with the word "stupid", and I just wanted you to know that I think you're a smart young woman. In fact, I think you're too smart to allow yourself to buy into this woo-woo stuff. And if this stuff is just a fun hobby for you, then have fun with it. :)
