Update on Beatrix, my yellow rat

I adopted this beauty one year ago today. He was much smaller then, at just under two feet and only 52g. His previous owners didn't want to feed him anything larger than pinkies, we're keeping him on sand with bad hides, and we're afraid of him. I easily picked him up on our first encounter and he was almost puppydog tame. He's now over three feet and 235 grams and feeds on small adults, when he does eat, which has slowed down this winter. Hopefully he begins to eat better soon. ;p

Looking forward to another 15+ years with this lovely creature.

i have another and it's even blurrier. guess i should not have let him warm up before I tried to take them. ;p

He's so pretty! Do you know the trick of putting a bowl over him and letting him sit 5-10 minutes, then taking pics as soon as you remove the bowl? That might work to get him to hold still for a minute!

Another year with this beauty. I think he's about three years old and weighs 275g. He defo has the rat snake attitude, especially when I wake him up for photo ops like these. Always was a little thin but brumation isn't helping. I try to offer food monthly but no luck yet. Like last year. I attached some pics of his being cute and exploring when it was warmer out.
