My almost 70 year old mama's pibble puppy, Hank:

I have an English and American bull dog, posted here embarrassingly too many times, but here they are:

Rose would die for me, should some dumb violent conflict occur. Shortie, well, I sure love her. She grunts when I rub her, and that's cool too.

Aww, there's not much you could have said nicer than dog boner. I love those bullies so much!

Here's Rose getting ready for the holidays, she doesn't put up with being "decorated" so much now as she gets older. I couldn't get one shot with a sweet expression, even with high value treats.

As much as the playful enthusiasm of a puppy has been replaced with a more stoic nature; the ability to put seasonal outfits on her to photograph for message board friends has come to an end.

Pits, as a breed, are so great with people! The only dogs I ever took temps on and gave shots to that kept right on licking my face. Their high pain tolerance that allowed (allows :() them to fight in the pit makes them great with rough kids.

Since it's started, I have to share our pit mix. We adopted him 3 years ago when he was 2 years old. I still can't quite get him not to jump on newly arrived guests without his leash, but that's his biggest flaw (Although if you ask our dogsitters, his biggest flaw might be that he jumps 6-foot walls and runs around for fun--apparently now if you catch him doing it he'll perch on top of the 4-inch thick walls and come back down if you tell him to. Unfortunately I'm the only person who hasn't seen this absurdity because he never jumps walls when I'm home.) He puts all 70lbs behind his bark when he hears people outside, which is all we want from him.

Be careful with your girl seeking shade in good rattlesnake spots!

good lookin' dog!

Pits are horrible dogs, you should be ashamed to let those big blood thirsty creatures around your children. I was once attacked by a pit bull, I no longer have my left eyebrow.

Well now that I have celebrated opposite day to its fullest I would love to give you kudos for you beautiful kiddos and dog! I love me some pitbulls and I would like to get one some day. So did Kat tattoo you, what was the tattoo of?

They were also selected for tolerating being cared for after fights. An injured dog who bit his or her handler after the fight did not get bred. So they were selected for high pain tolerance AND for being very good with humans, according to the info I have read about the development of the breed in England. Also, when this was happening, most handlers kept their dogs in the home with their families, and did NOT want a dog that was dangerous with the kids. As I understand it, they were selected for being "game" and for being super gentle with humans.

I love pitties. I think they are excellent dogs for anyone who is up for a high energy dog with plenty of brains. I just don't have the time to be a good dog parent so I don't have a dog right now & that makes me sad.

More pittie pictures please! Anyone in NE who has a pittie they would like to lend me for an afternoon, PM me! LOL

I love all your pits. Has anyone one seen the show on animal planet on friday nights called "pitbulls and paroles". It's actually a very good show and I thoroughly enjoy watching it.

One thing she said on the show that I often wondered about but never really questioned anyone one was the fact that many pits are genetically dog aggressive but almost all are people lovers.

Do any of you believe that or have research to prove or disprove that? I'm just wondering what others thoughts on that were.

I have read several authors who have looked into the history of fighting dogs who said that the ancestors of pitties were selected that way in order for it to be safe for their handlers to care for them while still having a dog that was willing to fight other dogs. It is certainly possible to breed for temperament in dogs, so this seems reasonable to me.

The hubby and I plan on adding a pibble to the family once we're in our own house (hopefully in a few months!!) and I can't wait!! Meanwhile, I get my pitty fix from folks here and on badrap.org :D Beautiful dogs, everyone!!
