Can't Keep A Secret
I *finally* had some luck in starting my breeding program this 2013 season! I've been keeping quiet about it as long as I can, because I've been afraid of jinxing myself. Now though, I just can't contain myself anymore. IT'S JUST TOO EXCITING.

We'll take a quick trip back in time to May...

Fast forward to this week...

And here is the full rundown!

Parents: Juju (Hypo Cinder) x Una (Tessera)
Seventeen eggs laid. 15/17 hatched (so far)
At this point, there are seven tessera babies, and eight normals. All 100% het for Hypo Cinder.

!!!

I will have more photos of the hatchlings to share soon. So far I've just taken the two photos of the first two babies. Sorry they aren't even great pics! I will have a better photography setup when I do the full shoot of all of them. ;)

Woohoo!

Thank you all!

I really intended to wait until I had all the pictures taken before posting... but... well, I couldn't wait. :p

I'll get those updated baby photos soon, though!

In the meantime, here are the parents. ;)

The last two eggs hatched out on Saturday. Another two Tesseras! WOO! I don't really believe it.

I am going to attempt a little photoshoot with all of them later today... so stay tuned. ;)

I've got a two-part post worth of photos here, so bear with me!

I haven't sexed anybody yet, and many still haven't shed.

I'll start with the Normals. They are all numbered in the order they hatched out, so nevermind the post-it notes. Those are mostly for my own reference. LOL

Also, if those of you with trained eyes could look at #3 & #11, what do you think? I know I won't really know anything until everybody has shed a couple times, but compared to their siblings... do you think there's a chance that they are Hypos?

Off the top of my head, I DO know that this one (#2) has already had it's first shed. The rest... I don't remember.

And a Tessera sneak peek, just for good measure. ;)

*MORE*

And now... the Tesseras!

Again, I have a little variation in the colors going on here, so I'd appreciate feedback from those with critical eyes. I wasn't given any indication that Una was het. Hypo, but hey... stranger things have happened, right?

My two year old son was watching me as I took this baby out of the egg bin and put it in the deli. He named it "Racecar", so I wrote it down. If it's a keeper, the name will probably stick. LOL

*DONE!*

And there you have it! Now that I've got them onto the computer, I'm not entirely happy with the photo quality. Boo. Hopefully they are good enough for you nice folks to get a good idea of what you're seeing, though! I'll have to change a few settings for the next photo shoot.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice! I really like the patterns on 12 and 13! I'm terrible at telling Hypo hatchlings from Normals, so take this with a grain of salt but some of them do look hypoish to me.

Did you get a chance to look at their belly checks? It's the best way I can tell my ghosts from my aneries, as some of my darker ghosts don't look different enough to tell until I see gray instead of stark black belly markings.

Aren't those patterns fun?? I also really like #9. It's the oddest of all of them, almost like it has spots in the middle of it's main stripe. It's also the darkest, I think.

I forget, is there a way to look at the eyes to help determine Hypo from Normal?

You posted too fast. LOL! I will take a peek at the bellies next time I'm up checking on them. I actually feel a little dumb that I didn't think of that to begin with.

Thank you! :D

Yeah, #9 is really neat too! I believe there is supposed to be a difference in the eyes too. Less melanin in the pupils?
