So what do I do to try and prove the genetics out? I hate the idea that I might have a mutt.
There isn't really anything, that you can breed it to, in order to prove out whether, or not, it is a Creamsicle.
Amel, it is, but beyond that ... you can only get people's opinions.
If in doubt, the safest thing would, probably, be to just treat it as a Creamsicle.
I have seen albinos, and this one is all yellow and orange with very little red, not like the albinos I have seen.
There is a variety, in looks, amongst Amels. Just as there is amongst Normals and just about any other morph.
Being that I pretty much lucked into these guys, what would some good potential breeding projects be? I also have the female ghost and snow still. I am going to pick up maybe 10 more corns, just wonder what I should shoot for. I would prefer to breed for visual morphs, as few hets and normals as possible.
"Good breeding projects" depends on what you prefer.
People like different things so there is, usually, a market for just about anything.
As far as suggested projects, with what you have, people would need to know exactly what you do have and which are male/female (in order to suggest what to pair up and, since you mention getting more corns, which morphs can be suggested for you to acquire).
'Course, although some may be a given, you may get some different opinions because, again, everyone likes different things.
Do you have any definite goals, in mind, as to what you would like to produce?
One thing I can say, off the bat, is that I think you should get a quality Candy Cane, of the opposite sex, to pair up with the beautiful Candy Cane that you have now.
Candy Canes are selectively bred Amels ... so, if you breed it to other (non Candy Cane) Amels or other morphs, you will start to lose that beautiful, clean, Candy Cane look.
Using a very nice Miami Phase corn, with your Candy Cane, would be about the only exception but, unless the Miami Phase is het Amel, you will get all Miami Phase het Amel offspring (but these offspring could produce some Candy Canes as well as Miami Phase offspring).
Oh (in order to get visual morphs and without knowing if any of your snakes carry any hets),... the Caramel could be bred to another Caramel, or Caramel based morph,... the Bloodred could be bred to another Bloodred, or Bloodred based morph,... and the Anery Motley could be bred to another Anery, Anery Mot, or Anery based morph.
The Normal, if of Devil's Garden locality, is, likely, to not have any hets. You could always pair it up to another Devil's Garden Corn (breeding for locality Corns) ... or you can use it, to introduce new blood into a project, but the resulting offspring will be Normals with hets. Only thing, given the sketchy info you have on these snakes, may be the uncertainty of whether or not it really is of Devil's Garden locality (captured or bred).
If you could prove out any hets, with what you have, ... or if you would not mind working with, or producing, het snakes,... other suggestions could be made.
