I got Baliss out whilst dad was going to do some work on the viv to repair it and took him to my room where it was quite. I placed him on the bed and he made a little bed for himself within my quilt. It was so cute i laid on the bed beside him and relaxed whilst dad was working. I feel asleep for little while. when i woke up i panicked thinking that he could have gotten anywhere i could have rolled on him ect. Turns out he had fallen asleep jut like i had and neither of us had moved so when i woke up he was still in his bed, so had to take a picture
I wanted to hold Crictor, so I took him out. Checked my email; saw I had a notification that someone posted to this thread. Meanwhile he is just hanging out in my hand, the only snake put of four to do this. I take a pic, upload, type all one-handed just so I could keep holding him yet post to this thread. I am so glad he does this sometimes!!!
Please pardon a naive new snake owner question...how can you tell when a snake is asleep? My girl often weaves and loops around my fingers well and just chills.
This is something I took note of in the late 1960's-70's when I first started working with snakes. When at rest (sleep), if their heads are visible near the enclosure side, you will notice their pupils drooping down and forward slightly (almost cross-eyed). Then if you very slowly move your hand close to them and wiggle it, you will instantly see the pupil perck back up to it's normal position. This of course allows them to notice prey and preditor movement, even when at rest so they can instantly be aware of it and react if needed.

That is SO interesting! I've often wondered about this, because they don't have eyelids. I'll have to sneak in on my snakes when I think they're sleeping. The only thing is that they generally sleep under their hides, so me picking the hide up would probably wake them up.
My baby spends a lot of time in his clear Tupperware bowl. He had his head up on the lip of the cut-out and I asked him what he was looking at me for, and he came further up out of the hide. My corns seem to have a very distinct way of "begging" when they're looking for handouts, and he sure was begging today :licklips: I said, "You want food then?" and he came further out, but then I said "Too bad, you were just fed yesterday. I'll give you cuddles though, if you want cuddles." of course he slid back inside and hasn't come out since
What do your corns do to show personality? Anybody have any "posh" corns that think YOU'RE the pet?
