What are the chances?

All but two have gone yellow. I will candle them in a couple of days and see what the results are.

My female ate. I have thrown out one egg already. It went south pretty fast. I have a few that are iffy and I am quite sure by the end of the week they will be going in the bin as well.

Two....well time will tell.

10 days since she laid

Well it's been ten days since she laid. Checked on the eggs. The yellow ones are turning moldy. I knew there was no hope for them. I removed most of them but two are stuck.

We have two white ones that are nice and plump. Guess well know in a few months what will come of these two. They don't look like duds but who knows in the world of snake eggs.

Since she wasn't breed this year and it's retained sperm from last year, even if they do turn out to be duds, it is what it is.

Well, if you're good at candling that's one thing. I've candled eggs and seen nothing, but then they go on to hatch. But I can't candle, or something.

It doesn't hurt to wait them out. I've even done it with virgin eggs- there has been snake parthenogenesis...

I'm not taking them out of the incubator. Cause the whole human error thing. Until they show to be complete dud's then they are there. But the whole no vein thing just has me thinking they will follow suit with their peers. Which is fine either way.

I have a similar situation and would like some advice. I bred my corns for the first time last year and had 10 healthy babies out of 19 eggs laid. I decided that breeding was too much work after my experience last year plus it was hard to find homes, so I did NOT bred my two this year. Now last night I found a clutch of eggs with two that look viable and the rest hard yellow duds. I put the two eggs in a moss filled container and put them on top of my fridge. Should I build an incubator? Is there a chance these eggs are fertile from last year? Help please

Day 42

Well it's day 42 with little to no change. Not sure what's with this egg. But I guess we're coming up in a couple weeks to figuring things out. I've candled it and nothing. But hey who knows.

They're supposed to go bad if they aren't good. They're supposed to show veins if they are. Really, someone needs to get these snakes to read the books and do what they are supposed to do! Pls keep us updated!

Nimh, sorry you didn't get a reply. You'll generally get better responses if you start your own thread. Just in case you are still looking for replies, yes, they could be fertile from retained sperm from last year. But you don't have to incubate them if you don't want the babies. You can freeze them for 24 hours and then just put them in the trash.

I always wish I could like comments. This egg doesn't show veins that I can see. Maybe this one is just being a difficult candling. I will keep it in the incubator until it either hatches or turns green :)

...and sorry Nimh, I never noticed your post either. I never got notification of it. Hope all is well with your eggs.
