What do you think causes the most problems in the world today?

So I was reading the news today. I'm always amazed at all the problems worldwide. I tried to think if there is one major problem causing them, but I could not. I wonder if there was one thing that could be fixed or removed that would make the world a better place for all?
Thoughts?

Not all people, just people I disagree with!

No one can have their feelings hurt. THAT is why we are having so many problems. For goodness sake they're banning tea kettles now because the handles look like hitler's hair.

Yes, people, especially iggerant/judgmental people. So many of the world's problems, past and present, would be solved if iggerant/judgmental people took a moment to sit there and think: "x who I hate is a person. I am also a person. What would I do/want if I were in x's shoes?"

A person is a person is a person is a person, regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, political party, religion, etc etc etc.

Now if only more people would realize that...

In a word, I would say "greed". Too many people's eyes are too big for their stomachs - or hands.

Are they really?

Yes.

I also think people are too sensitive and over protective. Kids can't be kids without getting in trouble for it, can't play dodge ball-someone might get hurt, can't throw hats at graduation-you may poke an eye out, if you throw your hats anyway then you don't get your diploma, etc etc etc. also there is no punishment or consequences for doing bad things anymore.

Political corectness is ruining the world. And the "everyone is a winner" mentality that children are raised with. No, to be a winner you have to try hard till you are.

The unrealistic expectation that the universe OWES you something just for being alive.

If I choose ONE thing, it is the lack of personal acceptance of responsibility. I believe this is a root cause of many of the other troubles listed. If people would simply accept responsibility for his/her own actions, positive as well as negative, much of the anguish and frustration in today's world would disappear.

Absolutely. Well, I am choosing two: this, and Rich's comment!

No one owes you anything, and you are responsible for your actions and choices.

People, over-population, procreating beyond carrying-capacity of the planet, with this notion that persons in other countries should stop reproducing, other nations need to stop developing the forests, while we continue to bulldoze our own backyards in the name of progress & freedom. Hopefully the GMOs will slow down reproduction as suggested by some media outlets, since war and famine are unpopular.

Organized religion, the concept of modern economy, remove one or both of the equation and it's a great step in the right direction I think.
