just went and checked the incubator and to my surprise the my first clutch (which didn't look so good 2 days ago) had all hatched.Today would have been 55 days is that early for them to hatch i had them cooking at 83.5 and 98 humitity? I'm so geeked its like christmas. Thanks to everyone for their help thru the whole process

Congrats on the new hatchlings! Now, we demand pictures! lol... :D

55 days should be pretty normal, though sometimes they'll go longer (one of ours hatched out at like day 72 or 75...)

will try and get pics up soon . I have one problem I bred 2 amels and all the babies look normal Everything i have read suggests that they all should be amel. the female was never with any other males. Any suggestions?

MAybe you have a revolutionary new amelanistic gene and a normal one? ;p Seriously though, I have no idea. If both look amel, they should be homogenous for amel and thus the babies really shouldn't be anything but amel. Pictures?

Photos of both the hatchlings and the parents are in order here. I'm thinking either one is not an amel, but perhaps a hypo, or that there is another male somewhere in the mix, perhaps last year or a quickie that you didn't expect (put the female in a tub with another snake, perhaps what you thought was another female, while you cleaned her viv, etc).

If both ARE amel....the offspring should be homozygous amels. Just semantics, because clearly we can't always just go by what things look like especially when concerning morphs with multiple traits and masking involved. :)

Looks like she hooked up with someone else while you weren't looking!

Congrats on the clutch.

Exactly! Those a lovely normal hatchlings, but the amel male isn't the father.

Oh gods... >_<;; I'm sorry, I of course meant that if they both exhibit the amel gene, they must be heterogenous and thus the babies shoudl be too. I did also consider the possibility of one just looking liek amel but not being one, but it came out wrong. My bad.
