whata surprise

How was the other female confirmed? sometimes a male can probe like a female, unless you saw "her" lay eggs I wopuld guess she is really a he.

Ive been thru every aspect of the situation and have no clue she has either retained sperm for years or it's a miracle

There goes my theory LOL. Makes you wonder just how long a corn can retain sperm.

Her second clutch this year, or her second clutch total (one last year)? And what were the offspring in the first clutch? And is this the first time the male was bred? There may be a very slight chance that the male is a chimera with only his sexual organs belonging to a non-amel "twin".

this is her second clutch this year with the same male . First clutch all amels.

You wrote in an earlier post that she had been placed briefly with another female. Are you 100% sure that other female is a female, i.e has that female laid eggs?

I don't know about corns, but some species can store sperm for years. A researcher from Oregon State observed a garter snake that had stored sperm for 9 years and still produced viable eggs. I just google searched: How long can snakes store sperm

Well tbrent1, I don't know exactly what's going on, but there's something other than an amel in the woodpile!

I saw that CSI episode, too! :) Fascinating situation; looking forward to finding out how the mystery is solved.

To be honest, I skipped straight to here. Have'nt read all the threads replies.
Definitely something odd here, at least the babies should be het for Amel.
