Petsmart, and it was a great experience!

I wouldn't buy there again mind you, but the little pueblan milk is in great health and is growing quickly.

Pet Supermarket. I got both my corns there. I've also gotten both my geckos from Petco. I'm pretty lucky in the sense that I have GOOD pet stores around (except for the HORRIBLE mom & pop shop).

ive gotten all of my snakes from breeders, though mind you, a few of them havnt always been the best of health nor have the breeders been truthful with me about their habits and feeding, note: me spending 4 months switching a snake to f/t mice.

I picked other, for pet store, as that is where I got my first corn. But thinking about it a bit more, technically my first snakes were wild caught. Found two baby garters that we were allowed to keep and then a few months later a full grown garter. We kept them a little over a year. Until the big one decided life was good and she was tired of being called a guy name and "him" all the time and dropped a litter of 11 babies. Then our long suffering mother, who never liked that snake, decided they could all go live back in the nearby swampy place. I was 10 when we first got them. So not sure that counts.

My first was from a breeder at an expo. Actually I bought 2 that day. Got a great package deal per say.

My first snake was a little wild caught Dekay's. This was way back in 1981 when I was 12.

Pet store is going to be a very popular answer. That's where I got my first snake.

Yeah, I was surprised that wasn't on the poll, since I'd guess most first-time owners get their snakes at a shop! I got my first snake, a female Ball Python named Delilah, at East Bay Vivarium in Berkeley... so it wasn't a big-chain store, but a pet store nonetheless. They're awesome, btw, if anyone is near/visiting the area - they've been around for like 25 years, and take incredibly good care of their animals. I also got my JCP from them, and he's perfectly beautiful and healthy. :)

I guess I'm the weird one then! I got my first pet snake from a breeder. She is a member on here but I didn't know about this place at the time. I just googled for corn snake breeders.

However my 2nd and 3rd snake came from a pet shop. They have a little mexican black kingsnake that is really sweet and me and my boyfriend both like it. Both our birthdays are coming up so there might be a 4th snake from a pet shop. They don't keep their reptiles perfect conditions but it's better than a lot of places I've seen around here.

Mine came from a local Petco, when I was 17. I had been wanting a Corn Snake for a little while, and one day before work I had begged my mom if I could bring one home, once I was able to save up enough for one... she seemed fine with the idea. That night, while I was working at the (then) local video store, my mom had surprised me with my 1st snake (Corn Snake). She had put the container that he was in into an empty movie case, and when I opened the case to enter it as a return and felt how light the case was, I opened it up to find him in there... One of my best memories!

I would imagine that pet-stores are a pretty popular option for 1st time owners. I was lucky that mine was so healthy, and to this day he's my best behaved snake (though I think that had more to do with the excessive amount of time I spent handling him. Him being my 1st and only snake and all...).

Aw, that's a cute story... your mom sounds pretty cool! Good thing you checked the video box, and didn't just throw it on the return cart. :D

My first corn was an anery motley, that i got from petsmart here in colorado for $40... my first rat i obtained from my father the breeder.

Why is pet store not an option? My first snake was a rough green snake from a locally owned store.

My first was from PetSmart. I just wanted to look but when they showed me the 3 corns they had (all in their own containers) Alex crawled right up onto my hand and made herself at home. I did like another one there but they said it wasnt for sale because it was having feeding problems.

My first snake (corn snake) was from Don at South Mountain Reptiles. Not a bad choice for a first snake! And I couldnt have been happier!
