Yearly Cornsnake Size

I've tried searching on google how big a yearly corn snake should be and I came up with nothing :/ So, I need help trying to find out. My corn snake is now a year old and I'm not quite sure if he is too small or skinny. I feed him two small pinkies every week. He is about 38g.

I took a picture of him. Not a great picture but this was just before feeding and he was about ready to nimble my finger lol

I would say 38 grams is pretty small for a yearling. Two of my yearlings are eating weanlings, one is eating small adults and the smallest one is eating hoppers. Other than my little guy who went on a feeding strike, my other three yearlings are between 150-200 grams.

He really doesn't look skinny to me.I'm just thinking he's a bit on the small size xD. But, I'm not sure. It's so much easier to tell with ball pythons lol

Well I'd def still think about moving him up to fuzzies. He looks like he could manage them fine and they will have more calcium in them too so will be good for him growing. [emoji4]

Alright I'm gonna get him large pinkes. Right now he is on 2 small pinkies. I don't think he can take fuzzies yet

At 38 grams he could definitely handle at least a small fuzzy. That is super tiny for a yearling though, my babies from this August are around 20g already

Alright I'll buy fuzzies. It's strange though he isn't skinny he just is very small. Like then runt of the litter

My wee guy was like that when I got him but their bodies just won't grow if they don't have the nutrition. He will be grand on fuzzies, you'll prob notice a wee growth spurt. Mine was 4 years old but smaller than a yearling. He didn't look skinny at all either but he had just stopped growing. He was on pinkies but now he's up to small adult mice and he's grown so much! You'd be surprised what they can get down their necks lol!!

My yearling is really small as well. She is on larger pinkies still, she just hasn't grown.

I'm worried about moving her up to the next size.

Marcellajoleen, your snake looks like she could definitely be eating larger mice than pinkies. She looks a bit thin.

See, I was told at my pet shop I shouldn't feed them anything thicker than the thickest part of their body. :/ but I trust people here, so I will try the next size up after I'm done the pinkies I have! Should I double up her feeding, you think?

How often do you feed? If you're scared of moving up in size you could maybe feed more often?

Oh well you should feed at least every 7 days but you could even go to once every 5 days til he puts on a bit of weight! I had mine once every 5 days cause when I got him he was very underfed and now that he's grown a good bit he is on once a week.

Yeah, at your snake's age, I would be feeding once a week. And you can feed prey items that are 1-1.5 times as wide as the widest part of the snake.
