Yearly Cornsnake Size

They tend to grow like fish. They match the condition given. If you eat often, you grow. If food is limited, the body size adjusts to what is offered. Nature's way to survive. Our 6 month old is eating 2 big pinks every 5 days. He is ready to move up, but we have pinks to get eaten first. Lol

Yeah, at your snake's age, I would be feeding once a week. And you can feed prey items that are 1-1.5 times as wide as the widest part of the snake.

I totally agree with this. Once a week, and you can double up on the pinkies for now was well. She is thin!

She will start to grow really fast once you increase her food intake, so make sure you weigh her before each meal and record it. You will be amazed at the change, and the record will help you see her growth. It is a good thing to keep a record anyway if you aren't already, I use my notebook to look back and see when their last sheds were, if they refused a meal, when they bumped up a meal size, etc. It is so interesting!

Thanks so much for all the input! I had been going off what the people at my pet shop were saying and I've realized how small she is. She just pooped and is due to be fed again on Monday. I am in need of a good scale though!

You can get a digital kitchen scale pretty cheaply from Walmart or eBay. I love keeping track of my snakes' weights and it makes it much easier to know when to move up size.

Alright so I've been feeding him fuzzies and I'm a little concerned on it. They seem kinda big. I'm not quite sure on corn snake sizes for meals. For ball pythons it can't be bigger than the biggest part of their body. But, because of how small corn snakes are compared to BPs I'm not sure if its the same rule.

Here are the pics of the feeding I was too lazy to scale it so I just put it in an album xD:

Anyone ever have a problem where your snakes weight won't register on the scale? I tried to weigh my girl last night before feeding (getting on that weekly track!) and the digital scale works just fine (I tested it and had tared it out beforehand) but her weight just didn't seem to register. Maybe she's too light?

It has to weight something. lol Unless your snake ate a vacuum.

Make sure the container isn't hitting on the scale. Our first scale was too small. This allowed the container to rest on part of the scale. We got a bigger scale at Walmart, and got more accurate readings. Also,,,,,, do you have the scale set to grams? Make sure the scale has the ability to read down to 1 gram. Bigger scales don't sometimes.
