Zig Zag Corn Snake Albino or amelanistic?

Pretty snake. I don't know if you are aware but it is a general rule not to touch the snake for at least 3 days or more after you get him. This allows for them to get used to their new surrounding. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Actually, "albino" MEANS lacking melanin (or amelanistic). "Albino" only means "white with red eyes," phenotypically speaking, in mammals because we only produce one pigmentation: melanin. All our variations in coloration are due to melanin.....and there are only 3 forms of melanin we can have. (One of those doesn't provide external coloration).

In snakes, with more than one coloration, an albino is typically now a solid white snake. "Amelanism" is synonymous with "albinism." A snow is ia anerythristic albino (in cornsnakes). It is just a common misconception, but a misconception no less, that an albino has to be white with red eyes across all taxa.

Your snake isn't used to his surroundings and is scared. You need to leave him be for awhile. He is going to hide until he gets more used to his new living arrangements. It can take awhile for them to be confident and explore. And when they do it tends to be at night when no one is around. It will just take some time. Remember your snake is a baby and their natural instincts say "Hide" so they don't get eaten.
