I Finally get to yell, "Pippies!!!!" Now Too

CaptBogart

False Prophet
Hooray for Pippies! I've been checking the "Incubator 5000" for the last few days as the eggs started to dimple, and finally there's little heads poking out of the first clutch laid... It's like Christmas, with the addition of, "Come on, stick your head out, let me see what you are! Hurry up, my fingers starting to cramp holding the shutter button.... Noooooo, don't go back in, I wasn't ready.... damn.... Ooooooooh, I like that color...." :D

Welcome to the 2008 Pipping Party! Congratulations! Seems as though it's always a waiting game doesn't it?!?! Now you have to wait for the first shed, then wait for the first meal, then wait for them to be breeding size . . . on and on and on!! :D

Congrats, they look good so far. How many have pipped?

Thanks, so far there are four little heads poking out of this clutch, so another six to go, as one looks like it went bad...

Those are some pretty little noses, Joe!!

I was thinking the same thing, can't wait to see the rest of them, lol..

Awwwwww, congrats! Now it's just waiting 'til they're all done...:)

I'm trying to not check every hour, but it's getting harder, lol...

Thanks for reminding me, Lol! I'm pretty good at ignoring the incubator for a few days at a time... until there's pippies, then I have to set up the tripod, put fresh batteries in the camera, pace... :D

Who can blame you?! I'd be absolutely glued to the incubator to watch it all happen! Then again, I've never seen it happen myself, but I still will sit for plenty of time just to watch my bearded dragon run around, so I can't imagine how exciting it'd be to watch pippies hatch!

Great! Now I will be checking this post every hour just to see if you posted more pictures. As if I don't already drive my self crazy checking my own eggs 100 times a day. LOL

This is so much fun!

I've been thinking about installing a plexiglass window in the freezer incubators door for next year. Not sure if that would be feasible though, since I'll probably have to open the door anyway to wipe the moisture off it, lol...

First, congratulations on the pippies! I really like the look of the noses poking out, so I'll stay tuned for the updates :)

Second, I use poly box incubators and I cut a viewing hole in the front, which I line on the inside with a piece of clear plastic, I then push the square of polystyrene that I cut out, back in from the outside until it touches the plastic (I attach a small handle made of tape, for easy removal and replacement). I've found that by putting the piece of polystyrene back in, it stops the condensation building up on the clear plastic, so perhaps you could do something like that if you decide to cut a viewing window :)

Hope that helps some,

Thanks, I'll have to experiment...

Congrats, Joe!

As an aside, when to you plan on replacing the carpet you've worn out from the pacing? :grin01:
