Planted fish tank

I love AC.....

White clouds are awesome fish, especially the long-finned type. Personally, I'd remove one of the gourami from the bowl...labyrinth fish are very aggressive, and the stress of being in such close quarters with another will definitely diminish the longevity of the fish.

For smaller tanks, IMHO, nothing beats the AquaClears. You can use any type of media, they run forever and require only the most basic maintenance. However, trying to tell you men anything.... ;)

Come and see me at www.petfish.net/forums I won't torture you TOO badly!!

PetSupermarket no longer carries them. I had heard Hagen was gonna stop making them. Guess they thought better. PETCO is expensive and the closest PetSmart is 45 minutes away. I could kick Lisa for tossing them when we moved. I had three 30s, two 20s (one of which was 15 y/o) and a 500.

I am on those forums from time to time.

I told her not to put two gouramis in the same bowl but try to tell you women anything.....

No...no we're not! Just go to www.petfish.net and THEN click on "forums" at the top. My webmaster hasn't removed that message yet. It's only been...oh...two years! It's so hard to find good help these days! ;D

Aw I see....

It is in my favorites anyway I always get rigth in there.

Hold on a minute, I just took some pics, I'll resize and post.

Making some popcorn to, be back in a hicckey.

Would I lie to you?

Hey, you really are a member! I just sent you a PM!

Here are some quick shots, not very good but I think you'll get the picture.

The filter itself- The tubing from the air pump goes in the bottom of the plastic tube, drawing the water up into the filter canister. There is a filter cartridge in there. I'm leaving it in the kitchen tonight cause the pump is very cheap and it didn't come with a check valve.

The fish are variants of Fire Gouramis. The little on they called a Honey/Fire and won't get much bigger. The other is a something Fire and if you notice he never takes his eyes off me.

Last pic will be the plant tank. Now if I can just get that Tikki Shack outta there....but you can't tell you women anything....

Wow, your plants are really thriving!!! ;)

Love the tiki hut...it looks like Terri's (crackerhead) table at her reptile shows.

I haven't had a bit of nibbling with my BN.. I'm sure they differ some individually though, there may even be hybrids?

Mine is destroying my pretty pink new cabomba though. I think it's just because he doesn't move very delicately, lol. Or maybe it's melting as well. Everything else seems to be doing pretty good though. I do have a couple swords and they haven't been harmed a bit, I almost wish they would be, but I'm learning not to be picky with plants that love your tank.

The pineapple sword is awesome BTW!

I'm gonna get.....

that hut outta there! If had this stuff, some kind of moss I can't remember the name, that winds its away aroung driftwood. Would look real nice round that hut.

I've got some Java moss and some Christmas moss if you need a sample! Doesn't grow fast but does attach itself pretty well to driftwood. The other plants in my new tank are also pretty good low light plants.. Anubias and Java Fern..

Thanks Tome....

I thought it was Java Moss but wasn't sure. I can get that at PetSupermarket. I'm having a hard time finding bananas right now.

BTW, did you ever try any David Eddings books?

DOH! Not yet.. I got obsessed with HP Lovecraft, and didn't read a word of anything else since.. Thanks for that reminder though, I'm nearly done. (B&N had the complete works in their cheap books section).

Which book was it that you were recommending to me on the other thread? I was just looking at his books on another page and wow (!) there's quite a few of them!!

There is actually a series of ten....

books about the same characters. It begins with the Belgaiard and Pawn of Prophecy.

And the second series with Mallorean and Guardians of the West.He also wrote two biographies (if you will) of the sorcerers in those tales, Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress. The Rivan Codex is like the bible for the series and is mentioned in the previous two.

The Redemption of Althalus is good.

I did read the Elenium. It was good but is not related to the others.

Here is a good link....

BAH! Cflaguy, you read David Eddings???

I started reading the Belgariad but never got to finish, since I was borrowing the book from a friend and ended up moving. ;_____; I want to finish to badly, it's ridiculous. I love the books so much.

New tank up!
This is my 42G.. I've got endlers and shrimp.

What do you think?

Ooo Endler's huh? Soon you will be like me, wondering if you should get a Garter Snake to take care of all the extra adult females....

I think they are worse than guppies, but they are cool.

I love this thread! Great to see the plants and critters thriving, but now it's making me wonder if I will restart keeping an aquarium. I had a 160 us gallon tank with a shoal of 12 black neons and 6 Corys, but eventually I lost interest after my neons died out of old age after 5 years or so and broke the tank down. The neons were so great to watch schooling in the big tank that I'd want a similar set up which I haven't the space for, although seeing the shrimps makes me wonder if a nano would be the way to go.
I had a great specialist fish shop within walking distance where I took my water for testing and had great support and advice, which is now closed down, so it'd be harder to restart. I think for now I'll just vicariously enjoy the tanks you're keeping and think on which way to go.

My Pleco used to crap all over. They are the equivalent of like 40 fish with how much they crap.

I tried live plants once and all the fish ate them. :nope:

Corys are awesome, arent they?

I used to watch mine for hours, they tuck their fins back and shoot up to the surface, it was so cute!

I can't believe how tiny the males are! I thought they were pretty near the size of guppies. Lori hooked me up with a friend of hers who had some, I figure he must be having the same problems as you, because he was very generous, lol.
