Erm... keep to small adult mice than, skip the 3 weeks old rat, he's not yet at the proper weight.
Keep him eating every week until he hits the 300 grams marker, it'll happen very quickly.
"Flu" took a pair of rat pinks tonight. Great feeding response on this guy! I didn't want to offer him a big meal since he just arrived this week, but I also didn't want to torture him with the smell of food when he got all active once I was feeding others, so I offered a rat pink. It didn't make even a tiny bump so he got seconds. Robbie said he was eating mice so this was less than a regular mouse. I'll try him on a rat fuzzy next time.
Baby boa is here! Pictures once settled & recovered for a couple days! I can and will get you a hook if you want, and I am quite sure I can find a long skinny box to ship it in. Do you like that one that you posted? Cuz if you do it's coming to you for Hanukah!
Dunno but I don't recall the bigger hooks being that expensive at Daytona. You show me a picture of a proper hook & I will find out the price in the USA & a guesstimate of shipping to Israel, OK?
I could buy you a hook & ship, couldn't I? Just so you would have a good one available. I'll take it out in boas when you can do import/export!
Well, we shall see. If the little one turns out to be an eating machine, I may stay with paper. At least for a while though, I can always use a hook. And as a Hogg, I shouldn't be dealing with a monster at adult size who can't ride a hook should I?
My baby hasn't shipped yet for various reasons. I have a tub all set up -- he's about the size of a corn snake so corn snake sized housing will work for now, and corn snake sized food. I am going to use little rats instead of mice so as not to establish a preference for mouse. I do have an extra UTH in case the cool side gets too cool in the winter. I plan to use cypress mulch after the initial period on paper towels. I have suitable hides but espect they will be used as lounging rocks rather than as hides. Sound OK?
Oh, wait, are there any prayers for good luck I should say? If there are, give them to me phonetically because I don't read Hebrew! LOL
Oren, I didn't think lumps were expected unless she was gravid. Nice to know I'm not totally crazy! Now, keep us updated, OK?
Well, unless lumps are part of the normal appearance of boas... I'm keeping my fingers & toes crossed, but I really suspect you're going to wake up to babies sometime in the next 4 weeks.
