f/t versus live

To everone who is against feeding live mice. I have two corns for 3 yrs. they both accept live or f/t. I feed them mostly live because the pet store is right around the corner and they don`t have f/t. I have had f/t that I accidently dropped on the floor and exploded into mush. You never know how fresh they are. I also think live mice keep the snakes muscles strong by constricting.. If you have a healthy strong snake the mouse will not even know what hit him before he is dead. Its just as cruel to kill a mouse either way. They don`t have a chance to bite. Rats on the other hand will bite if constricted. I have never seen any damage to my snakes..

so basically, you feed live because you are too lazy to go somewhere that sells decent quality f/t.
Just because your snakes have never been bitten does not mean they never will.
And being killed by a snake is MUCH more terrifying and painful than the way frozen food is killed.

But then, we have had this disussion before.
Sad that nothing has changed....

your mad

hey, I was just expressing my opinion.. My snakes are healthier than yours. They are getting the freshest of freshest..

Yup, injuries, scratches and possible parasite loads make for some mighty tasty eating!

The most EDUCATED and KNOWLEDGEABLE keepers feed thawed (or fresh killed).
The ignorant, lazy, cruel and uncaring feed live.

But you don't know what those mice were eating. They could have been eating utter junk and so are worse for your snake than F/T from a reputable source. And MY snakes are healthier than yours because they run no risk of injury.

As to more exercise? I dangle my mice and pretty much all my snakes strike and coil once they are big enough for fuzzies/hoppers. I also handle them often, which provides more exercise in the long run than a few moments of constriction.

No, the only reason YOU feed live is because you think it's cool.

20 years ago, when I got my first corn snake I fed live because there was no where to get frozen. I never had any problems. I always stunned the mice right before I offered them to the snake. I sat and watched. It normally didn't take long for the snake to strike and constrict. If it didn't happen quickly, I removed the mouse and offered it at a later time.

Now, with frozen mice so easily accessible, I would never think of feeding live. There are risks.

O.K. people. I was just expressing my opinion. How do you know that the f/t mice are not fresh and have no utter junk in them? Are they grade A certified? You don`t need to be so nasty.. I will continue to feed mine the warm blooded live mice. I guess I opened a can of worms.. I would feel bad if a mouse had a brain bigger than a pee Probably about the same size as the corn eating them.... Your all too sympathic. What happens in the wild is alot worse..

But your snakes ARE NOT WILD.
No need for them to kill their own food.

We are not being nasty, we are telling it like it is.
We just see you as someone who cares more about the "show" than the welfare of his snakes. AND is too lazy to do right by his animals.

Nobody was being nasty. You expressed an opinion, and more experienced keepers came on and explained why what you are doing is not the best for your animals.

Your a hipprocrite.. I`m not lazy.. Get over it...

You are lazy because the shop near you carries live. You don't like the quality of their frozen food. Instead of getting off your butt and looking for a shop with decent frozen food, you would rather risk your snakes getting chewed on because the shop is closer. That is pure laziness.

How am I a hypocrite?

FACT

The most EDUCATED and KNOWLEDGEABLE keepers feed frozen/thawed/prekilled.

The lazy, ignorant, cruel and uncaring feed live.
You have pretty much proven yourself to be lazy and ignorant.
So, the question is, how cruel and uncaring are you?

I hope alot of people read our post.. I was just expressing my opinion and you got nasty. I would never buy from you. I`m not a breeder just a snake enthusiats..

If anbody feed a live mouse to this guy don`t let him know.. He will be your worst enemy and call you all sorts or mean things....
