is acceptable as long as it's not obviously
geared towards the Fall/Winter months)

This contest will be running for the Spring/Summer half of 2010 and
the theme is really broad so GO WILD!

RULES
1. A maximum of one entry, per category, per contestant.
2. Image size must be 600 pixels wide and height no larger then 800 pixels. )Don't know how to resize photos? Try Serpwidget's Camera to Forum Program.)
3. Entry must be taken or created by the individual who submitted it.
4. Entry or like entries may not be posted elsewhere on the internet; this is to retain anonymity.
5. No names, copyright information, etc on images.
6. Contestants under the age of 18 must have parental permission to enter and accept a live animal prize.
7. Entries must be submitted to [email protected]*
8. Winning images will be determined by public voting.
9. Entrants may only win two prizes per calendar year.
10. Shipping on live prizes to be paid for by the winner.
11. Open to entries worldwide.
12. Prizes separated for US and International entrants.

* Once you've submitted your photo, if you haven't received confirmation of receipt within one full business day, please reach out to me. Don't wait until voting on the assumption that it made it safely through the e-mail courier system. Glitches happen so make sure you know I have it.

CORN SNAKE, REPTILE & AMPHIBIAN,
and MISCELLANEOUS CRITTER CATEGORIES:
No image editing that adds or removes image content will be permitted. You can make MINOR adjustments to the lighting and color. Cropping and resizing is permitted. Color and originally taken black and white or sepia tone images are allowed.
CORN SNAKE: The photo subject must be a Corn Snake.
REPTILE & AMPHIBIAN: The photo subject may be any Reptile or Amphibian; this includes corn snake hybrids.
MISCELLANEOUS CRITTER: The photo subject may be any non-reptile/non-amphibian you please.

DIGITAL MANIPULATION CATEGORY:
To qualify for the "Digital Manipulation" category, an entry must be SIGNIFICANTLY altered. Adjustment of brightness/contrast/lighting/color or basic Filters does NOT qualify for the category. The use of the Filter sets Artistic, BrushStrokes, Sketch and Texture are discouraged without SIGNIFICANT additional editing. Need some help with Photoshop? Try these websites: Photoshop Tutorials & More Photoshop Tutorials. Need a FREE alternative to Photoshop? Try GIMP!
The photo subject may be any critter:
"It can be big and tall,
or smaller than all;
furry, scaley,
or big-long-nailey.
It can hiss or even moo,
it's all up to you!
Just make it unique and any animal will do!"​

FRESH ENTRANT:
This new category is being implemented in order to give everyone a fair chance at winning. To qualify for the "Fresh Entrant" category, the entrant must have never won a Photo Contest on CornSnakes.com. Adjustment of brightness/contrast/lighting/color or basic Filters does NOT disqualify an entrant from the category, however it may flag you in the eyes of the organizer. If the organizer deems your photo to be exemplary or superior, he/she may encourage you to enter a more challenging contest, at which point you'd have a shot for a higher ranking in the prize distribution list (see the prize pattern at the very end of this post, below Prizes). Please recognize any suggestions of this nature as a compliment. The photo subject must be a Corn Snake.

If any of the above rules are not met as listed, an entry can and will be rejected after one request to correct the problem.

Also, with the fact that there are going to be 5 categories, there is the off-chance that there won't be enough entrants in any one of them. I'm going to require that we have at least 5 entrants per category before it can be counted as valid and allowed to move into the voting process. Each contestant may enter one photo in each category, unless otherwise noted in the contest rules (see the Fresh Entrant description as there are restrictions for previous winners).

I have bolded the spelling error, it should be an "s".

Then look at the Fresh Entrant category, as part way through the title your font size changed and stayed that way through out the rest of that section.

Otherwise it looks great!! Must have been a lot of work, thanks.
 
Thanks for spotting those! I fixed the United Stated, lol. (I also caught a parenthesis I missed in that area too :D).

As for the font size change, it's not doing that for me and I checked my code and there's nothing there that says it's going to change part way through. Is anyone else seeing this?

There is the coffee mug, the CS.com membership (which I think is a fabulous prize idea and should be something always offered in contests) and the magnet. Maybe in the next contest we can get someone in Canada to offer a snakie prize?

Yes, the best we can do is go off what prizes the members graciously offer up themselves. There's still time for people to donate "Canada" prizes so if you know someone willing to do so then have them drop me a PM, otherwise a Canadian winner's best bet may be to go for something other than a live prize.
 
Thank you everyone for all the interest!!! Since we've gotten so many prize donations I'm going to go ahead and add in another placing, so instead of there only being 1st and 2nd place available, now there's also a 3rd place ranking available as well. :D
 
Can someone enter both fresh entrant and another catergory? Or if you enter the fresh entrant catergory you can't enter another one. And when sending in submission what information should be included with the photo?

You can enter one unique photo per category, with the stipulation that if you enter the Fresh Entrant category, you can't have won a CornSnakes.com Photo Contest in the past. So as long as you have never won anything you can enter a different photo into each of the 5 categories if you'd like.

If you have won something in the past, then you can only enter 4 of the categories, the Fresh Entrant category excluded from that count.

Information required:
Your e-mail address (which will be provided to me once you've sent your photo via e-mail)
Your CornSnakes.com user name
Which contest the photos belong in - Either the photo must be named after the contest it is intended for, or the e-mail must state a description informing me which photo goes into which contest.
 
I made a quick alteration to the way the Prize Distribution is going to flow. The more I looked at it the more I felt it wasn't weighted very fairly for those who placed first in the sub-categories. The new version is much more fair for those people.
