2010 SPRING/SUMMER PHOTO CONTEST!

BUMP!

Don't look at me! I'm not entering! I will suggest that you make a few threads in some other forums, such as the Photo Gallery and General ChitChat and maybe a few others to help get the word out. I'll even sticky them for you if you want.

Awesome idea; doing that now :)

<-- Also, who stole my shiny thing?! :(

I just realized it was gone. I think I noticed my features taken away before the icon disappeared though, lol.

When I enter a photo, do I send my name or anything with the e-mail so I can be contacted if I win?

You may do this if you'd like, however my first method of contact is to reply to you via the same email address you submitted your photo with.

On another note, today I have received multiple messages regarding image size. The current rules state that Image size must be 600 pixels wide and height no larger then 800 pixels.

This means that the width MUST be 600 pixels, no more, no less. Then you have a little more flexibility with the height, but it cannot exceed 800 pixels. If you have a picture that is, say 640x480 then you'll have to size it down to 600x440 before you submit.

Don't know how to resize photos? Try Serpwidget's Camera to Forum Program.

Another BUMP, along with an update :)

Currently we have only a few entries and definitely need more!:

Corn Snakes - 5 entries
Reptiles & Amphibians - 5 entries
All Animal Digital Manip - 3 entries
Miscellaneous Critter - 3 entries
Fresh Entrant - 4 entries

If you submitted a photo, please check your inbox. I just went through all the entries and discovered a few that were outside the size constraints so I sent those people an email. Your options are to resize and send your photo back to me, or give me written (email) permission to resize myself.

If you didn't receive anything more than my confirmation of receipt then your photo is fine.

Thanks!

I have a question to propose to those who are offering snakes, but have said only to US entrants.

What about offering to Canadian entrants as well if they get a US Fed Ex address and come across the border to pick up. Then they are still responsible for the shipping to the Fed Ex location just close to the border and responsible to come and pick the snakes up?

Just a thought?

That's a really good suggestion. I would imagine it would have to be handled on a case-by-case basis, but it's definitely good to get all the options out there in case someone hadn't thought of that yet.

It's been done before, I've done it, and I see no problem with it.

Hey everyone! I just got a really good question in my inbox which leads me to believe that my original posting may be a bit misleading in regards to prize distribution:

... to be honest, I don't want any of the prizes in main Corn Snake category. But I am interested in a couple in the Fresh entrant category. So if it's all the same to you I'd rather stay in Fresh entrant. But if you need entries in the other, then go ahead and put the photo wherever you need it. :) Which bring me to a question. You don't have to accept a prize if you win, right? I don't want any snakes right this minute (though I might be suckered into a blood ph stripe), and some of the particular morphs that have been offered as prizes I don't want period. If I were to win something I didn't want, I wouldn't have to accept, would I? Or could I gift my gift to someone else?...

Here's my response:

... Well, the prizes aren't actually layed out by category at all. The main contest is, of course, the Corn Snake Category. If the grand prize winner of the Corn Snake Category chooses the coffee mug or anything else, then that's just fine. The prizes are going to be distributed on a First-Ranked-First-Choice basis, meaning all the #1 winners would choose first, and then it would go down the line.

So if you win #1 in the Corn Snake category, that doesn't mean you HAVE to take the 1st prize on the list. You can choose anything you want, gift it to someone else, or choose nothing at all honestly :). It's really up to you.

I just went and snagged this from the Contest Posting so you can have a copy of it:

Prizes will be chosen by the winners. The order of choice falls in this pattern:
Corn Snake Category
1st place - 1st choice
2nd place - 6th choice
3rd place - 11th choice
Reptile & Amphibian
1st place - 2nd choice
2nd place - 7th choice
3rd place - 12th choice
Miscellaneous Critter
1st place - 3rd choice
2nd place - 8th choice
3rd place - 13th choice
All Animal Digital Manipulation
1st place - 4th choice
2nd place - 9th choice
3rd place - 14th choice
Fresh Entrant
1st place - 5th choice
2nd place - 10th choice
3rd place - 15th choice
As you can see, the 1st place winner of the Fresh Entrant Category gets to choose 5th. If I didn't make sense, please let me know and I'll try to clear things up :).

Thank you,
Jadie.Glitch...

How many days left 'til the contest closes? Unless I can find a reptile or amphibian that isn't a corn snake to photograph, I think I'm done, but still, if there's time left, I could always ask Z to look under a log or something while he's out geocaching. Maybe he could find me a newt or something :).
