Bella's Last Filly (LOTS of pics)

Tim - I actually dig that name. Now I just need to incorporate Bella into it. Bint Bella Mishaal? Bella does mean "pretty." Not in arabic, but still. Darn... I'm gonna have to learn arabic if I plan to keep breeding horses!

Janine - you should see her snorting with that tail straight up in the air! She's such a little prissy brat!

Kathy - I bought a new house in Mesa, but its more towards downtown Mesa. My horses are on my parents property in Scottsdale, but you're more than welcome to come check it out! My horses are "small potatoes" compared to some of the pampered show stock they have. Hell, we might as well make it a group thing since Katie plans on coming out sometime too lol!

Thanks for all the awesome comments guys. This filly is going to be one of my last for a while. Serenity still has to foal, but with school getting really rough next year, I won't have time for more than these 2. Smokey has been doing light training, but its time we get serious. I need to hit those trails when it cools off! So between the 2 babies and Smokey, plus Bella's recovery... plus the snakes and school... I'm tapped out!

Bint Mishaal Bella or...
Bint Mishaal Lady Bella?

Not sure on how many spaces you are allowed. With Paints you are only allowed 21 spaces for a name. I used them all to name my filly Rosza this year.
Her pending reg. name is *Specials Dirty Secret*.

Catherine I like the barn name BS for her too. :)

Kay Cee's very first foal was named RD Sands. RD for short. But he spent his first year being called LB. Short for "little bastard". He was a character that always made me smile. :)

Catherine they are all beautiful - but that stallion (and I know he isn't yours) - HOLY COW GORGEOUS! What a perfect example of an Arabian. My jaw literally fell open when I saw the pics you posted of him.

I so wish I could have horses. But between time and cash it just can't happen right now. I have sworn since I was a little girl that someday I would own one - and I still swear that I will. I just hope I will be able to do it when I am still young enough to be able to ride and appreciate them.

When I was little - and I mean really little - like between 3-7yrs old, my neighbors had a horse and a pony. They used to put me up on the horse (Cherokee was her name) bareback and I could ride all over their paddock with practially no supervision. She was as calm as could be and had no problems with a little kid holding on to her mane for a romp.

Then we moved to the "big city" and I missed horses so much that my mom signed me up for riding lessons. I was one of the only kids who had ever been on a horse before so they gave me this stubborn old appaloosa to ride. He was a PITA! After our initial 6 week class, half the kids dropped out so they put me on this beautiful Arabian mare named Freebie. She was an absolute gem to ride. Almost like a rocking horse with her smooth gaits. She responded to hand and foot commands with the slightest touch and was quick to boot. We were jumping before I finally quit taking lessons. I just got tired of riding how I was told when I was told all the time. I wanted to be able to ride freely, not just with directions from our trainer. He was great though - taught me a lot about horsemanship. Looking back I wish I would've stuck it out longer as they might have started putting me in local shows and such.

Since then I think I have only been on horses a handful of times. I had a friend in my 20's who had a horse that I would go visit with her. Help her muck out stalls and groom. I only got to ride there once or twice because her horse wasn't fully broken in and wasn't too keen about having me in the saddle. And on the occasional vacation where I have found somewhere to go trail riding I have taken the opportunity. But that has been about it. I really miss it.

Hahahaha! I had a Tokay Gecko named LB for little bastard lol! I used to call Smokey (BS's big brother) LS for "little sh*t" :grin01: I guess we're big on initials here.

Katie - I went through that whole ordeal with my parents too. Mom is huge into showing, and Dad does what mom tells him too. On our own time, Dad and I are trail-burners at heart. My favorite thing to do when I got home from school when I was younger was grab a sandwich and a bridle and hit the desert with Sadar. Mom used to throw a fit.

One thing that my parents did teach me about are the importance of bloodlines. When you have an animal whose ancestral roots are literally ancient, you can't help but to be meticulous with record keeping. While I'm not too big about the whole show scene, I take so much pride in being able to say that Bella can be traced back to Sabah, the original stallion of the Muniqui bloodline... or that Sadar can be traced back to the amazing Skowronek and his ancestors of Lady Wentworth's Crabbet Stud.

I could go on a rant about Arabians for ever... Obviously, there is a reason these horses were prized commodities for thousands of years. They are just amazing horses! Not to say that other horses aren't either... I adore ALL equines, but the arabs always have my heart :)

So your filly will grey out will she not?

I had a scottsdale arab mare when I was a kid there in chandler. She was *spelling phonicly* Zarevna and was shown there in the big scottsdale show as a yearling. She was a great mare and we just lost her two years ago from cancer at the ripe age of 27. I miss that crazy horse.

Catherine!! Holy gorgeous, and so full of that Arab spunk we all love. :D Huge congrats to you!! I'm so glad Bella is going to be okay. How amazing that Lovely adopted BS, what a wonderful story. My first two horses were Arabs, so they will always hold a special place in my heart.

Oh no Tara! That sucks! I'm so sorry you lost your girl :( Its so hard not to get attatched to these guys. You'll have to come back out one of these days and come riding with me.

From the look of her parents we thought she was going to be a grey, but looks like this one is gonna stay chestnut. Thats fine by me! I love chestnuts... especially the firey red ones!

Hallie - Thank you so much honey! We always knew that Lovely loved being a mother, but never thought she would get to the point where she would give milk for BS! Like Fred said... Mother nature at its best!

Congrats on the baby! She's stunning. I love the second to last picture in the first batch. Just amazing!

Just thought I would update...

After racking my brain for days, I've decided on a name for her... finally! The filly's pending registered name is "Hadiya Bint Bella." The name is arabic, but it doesn't translate into english easily. It means "Bella's Gift."

Oh, and the nickname Baby Sister (or BS depending on how much of a brat she's being) has indeed stuck. :grin01:
