Bought TONS of new things! Including another corn!

SnakeNewbie

I love Zoey and Cutter!!!
Im back from shopping for snake stuff with my dad (he actully loves my snake ALOT!) so I got a heat lamp to use insted of the heat pad, some fake plants for her to climb on, I got reptile hand sanitizer for after handling her,and.... My dad got my another corn! we went to the store for snake stuff and I wanted to see if they had any different corns and they had this really cool pink one and my dad asked some one and said to her lets get it! :D yay! idk if it is a boy or girl. I think Eddie (or Im calling her Edie now) is a girl. My dad didnt want to buy another tank so we put them together <.< they are doing fine cause we bought them from the same store and Edie and the other were together. The new snake is Pinkish with white on it idk what typer though. I also need some named for it. If it was a boy I would name it Edward you know Eddie and Edie :D and I know more about corns than i did before cause I got a book and read more online.

Um, you really should not keep them together. Snakes are solitary by nature, and they only come together to breed.
There are MANY reasons to keep them seperate....but not one good one for keeping them together.
Eddie was better off before......

I got another one cause I thought they would be fine together... they are doing fine

I'm sorry you did this for you and the snakes. Do a search on co-habbing. While not the biggest threat to putting two corns toegether cannablaism sure is one of the concerns, usually resulting in the death of both snakes. I don't want to scare you and know this is but cornsnakes are not meant to live together. To some degree or other one or both will suffer from them being together, unless you are an excellent herper with great skills in detecting stress in your corns. FYI just because they are curled up in the same spot they are not in love, friends, buddies... it is just the most comfortable place in the tank and they both want it.

I'm sorry but you don't even have something to properly measure the tempature for your tank.
So how are you going to know the heat lamp isn't too hot? It still needs to be regulated...if you don't have the money for another tank, what about the money for making sure the first snake is ok?

I know it seems like we're all gonna start ganging up on you. But this is NOT the path you want to go down with your snake keeping.

And "babehs" can eat each other....feel stress....bully each other....breed to young and kill the female....spread sickness to the other one.....and suffer because they are forced into a situation that is not good for them....

corn snakes are not designed by nature to live together. They don't travel in herds.

And the only reason petstores keep them that way is out of convience for themselves.
Heck most petstores even keep Kingsnakes (which are called that because they EAT other snakes) together :(

I bought another thermomiter for the "hot" side so I know how hot it is! And Im buying 3 corn snake books on amazon, one being by Kathy Love.

Instead of the books buy another tank. Believe me none of the books will agree with a new snake owner keeeping cornsnakes together.
It is usually the babies that eat each other.
My guess is you are very stubborn and against anyone knowing more then you or a troll trying to provoke us.

You should have read them before you got Eddie. Why can't you get another cage?
Oh, and babies are MORE likely to kill each other than adults are. They can look "fine" one day, the next morning you can wake up to a dead snake. It's a low risk, but that risk is always there unless you seperate them...

One more thing three books will not an expert make. Expertise in herpiing comes with experience.
Saying that you may gain experience form this venture of putting the two together, that it shouldn't be done.

Or, and I do apologize in advance for my rather sarcastic response, you could just put the two snakes in the same tank together, turn the UTH on high & let them cook and then proceed to cannibalize each other. Voila, problem solved: no more snakes to worry about.

OR...you could stop being so impulsive, sit down & do your research properly, and think about what you're doing first. You're playing here with life, you know that?

Oh! gosh you're the kid whose Dad thinks the snakes should eat live. I can see the circus now live mice, two snakes, maybe we should start taking bets on the winner.

how am I being impulsive! I have been wanting a snake for months! and I have been cleaning the house and everything so I could get her. and I have talked to my dad about getting different tanks untill they are older and I want them to breed. I. Am. Not. a child who dosnt care for there animals!
